1 PHI

4-1-0

(Record: 8-1) This team has been playing the best football of any team in the NFL since they played the Chiefs. They and the Cowboys have the best play of offensive and defensive lines in the NFL, combined with two of the best young quarterbacks. They somehow robbed the Dolphins of a top 10 RB to add to their already solid backfield, and now one of the NFL's most exciting runners has an o line who can block and a QB capable of making every throw. The defense has also been playing lights out and will be getting Ronald Darby back, who is their number 1 corner in a group that has over performed without him. They're heading into the bye week in a great spot with their most important game so far this season up next.

2 NEP

3-2-0

(Record: 6-2) The defense is gonna be ok. They were on pace for the worst defense in history by quite a large margin, but now have strung together 2 performances where they had (somewhat) corralled the offense. And that was BEFORE heading into the bye week. Tom Brady still defies age somehow, and Brandin Cooks is finally getting involved in the offense.

3 LA

3-2-0

(Record: 6-2) I was one of the biggest offseason hype boys for the Rams. They were my offseason pick to go 9-7 and win a tie breaker with the Hawks for the division. It appears I may have underestimated this team. Jared Goff looks worthy of the number 1 pick. Gurley can finally run with Andrew Whitworth blocking for him (last season their LT was the worst at run blocking in the NFL, averaging NEGATIVE yardage when ran behind), and the defense which was already talented looks borderline elite with this offensive upgrade and upgraded rest time. Aaron Donald is still one of the best defensive players in the NFL. Trumaine Johnson has looked very nice this season on the back end, and Ogletree has earned his fair extension.

4 DAL

2-3-0

(Record: 5-3) Say what you want about this Dallas team, fan, hater, or neutral. This team is coming together, and looks poised for a run. Them and the Eagles have the 2 best o line and d line combos in the league. Their LB play has improved drastically with Sean Lee (the most vital and most under appreciated defender in the NFL) finally back. Their defensive backs have shown promise and improvement. Their o line has returned to dominance, and Dak is still playing great football. While Zeke is an important factor, I think Dak showed against the Chiefs, he can hold this team over if they lose Zeke to his suspension. Now don't get me wrong, they're not a top 5 team without Zeke, but they are still a playoff team.

5 PIT

3-2-0

(Record: 6-2) Big Ben is old. We knew this. But this team is still elite offensively, and really sneaky good defensively. Juju is the next great Steelers WR, and now that Le'Veon Bell is finally getting his touches, this team has transitioned from Ben's team to Bell's team. My issue is the usage. He averages about 29 rushes a game the past 5 weeks, which is skewed by a 15 carry outing against the Jags where they were getting blown out early. Discounting that game, Bell is averaging 32 rushes a game. That number will look to increase as the weather gets colder, and then you factor in his passing targets, which is around 4 per game. More than any Steelers WR not name Antonio Brown. That's about 36 touches a game, with that workload looking to increase to probably around 40 as we hit colder weather. By the time they run into New England Bell will be nearing 400 touches on the year, and over 450 hitting the playoffs for a player who has struggled staying 100 percent. If the Steelers want to make a run, they need to taper off overusing Bell these next few weeks.

6 NOS

2-2-0

(Record: 6-2) Speaking of elite offense with great defenses, what about the Saints? After starting 0-2 they've now ripped off 6 straight. While there is the question of just how impressive these wins are, I'm willing to roll with Brees safely here, just outside this top 5 still. Yes the win over the Bucs was impressive, but it wasn't surprising. The Bucs are bad, the Saints look good. Now this upcoming stretch will be extremely important in determining the fate of the Saints. The Bills are a solid team, but have started to stumble and it appears are a game away from choking what would've been a great playoff experience. The Redskins are a good team, capable of overwhelming teams who are not prepared for how good they really are. The Rams are a top 3 team as of right now. Even after that stretch, the Panthers and Falcons always play the Saints hard, and the Jets are a shockingly good team. If they hold strong against each these teams, and lose 3 or less possibly (as long as it's not NFCS losses), schedule this team with a home playoff game.

7 JAC

3-2-0

(Record: 5-3) Oh man. I was one of the biggest offseason hype men for the Rams. Well my love for the Jags is almost just as large. This is the best defense in the league, perfectly coupled with age and experience. Their running game is dominant WITHOUT Fournette, and will be better with him back in the lineup. And Bortles has actually been efficient. Not good, but efficient. And with a defense like this, that's all you need.

8 MIN

3-2-0

(Record: 6-2) Maybe I'm jumping the gun here moving them above the Seahawks and Chiefs, but this is one of the most well rounded teams in the NFL. This is the closest thing the NFC has to the Jags. Bradford is done, but Keenum has been about as good as Bradford this year, and Bridgewater is finally back in the lineup. I think the Vikes roll with Keenum for a week or 2 and hope for a chance to get a look at Teddy in a game situation. But no matter who is under center, this tea will be fine. They have the elite defense and the efficient offense. Diggs and Thielen are great. McKinnon and Murray have done admirable jobs filling in for Cook. This team could make a run for the playoffs.

9 SEA

3-2-0

(Record: 5-3) Ok, first things first. Washington is a good team. ET3 sat out this game with injury, and we saw last year he is the key to this defense. But at the same time, that is a game Seattle HAS to win. The Skins got crushed last week. The Hawks knocked off Watson and his fire elite offense last week in a shootout, and then finally added not only a good offensive linemen, but an elite LT. Last week's game could be what determines the fate of the Hawks playoff hopes. Their upcoming slate isn't as easy as you'd think now. The Cardinals play them close every year. So do the Niners. The Falcons have (in recent years) dominated the Hawks. The Eagles are the best team in football. The Jaguars are one of the hottest teams in the NFL, and seem like the team the Hawks were 2 years ago(minus an MVP candidate QB). The Rams dominated the Hawks their first game and were a dropped catch away from winning it at the end despite 5 turnovers. I expect that game to go differently this time. Not to mention the Cowboys who could be getting very hot by the time they play each other. Suffice to say, if the Hawks lose this Thursday night game (as I type, ET3 is a game time decision, and I don't anticipate him to play 100 percent) to Drew Stanton's Cardinals, I expect the Hawks to miss the playoffs for the first time in years. I expect them to win this game.

10 KCC

5-0-0

(Record: 6-3) This was the best team in football 3 weeks ago. Now they've been exposed as Alex Smith return down to Earth some and their defense begins to get exposed. This is still a top 10 team, with a top 3 HC, top 3 MVP candidate, the best TE in football right now, one of the most dangerous weapons in the game in Tyreek Hill, and a promising rookie who is now falling down to Earth. Thing is this team could be the Vikings of this year and go 8-8, and as long as their 2 wins come in division at the right time, they could still run away with this division.
