NCAA Football Weekly Predictions Week 7 Note: My October Pick of the Month pushed, but I had a winning week. My second-half plays were 7-2. For legality
purposes, this Web site does not promote or advocate gambling.
Florida State (4-1) at Wake Forest (3-2) Line: Florida State by 6. Thursday, 7:45 ET In case you haven't noticed, I love taking nationally televised live home underdogs, where tons of money is thrown on the favorite. With 70 percent of the betting public backing Florida State, I think the Demon Deacons walk away with the straight-up victory. Prediction: Wake Forest 24, Florida State 16 Wake Forest +6 (3 Units - Money Pick) -- Correct; +$300 Wake Forest 24, Florida State 21
Purdue (5-1) at Michigan (4-2) Line: Michigan by 5.5. Saturday, 12:00 ET Attention, gamblers! Purdue is now being exposed as a fraud. Please line up and throw tons of money on Michigan this week, and walk away from the books with some quick cash. Thank you! Prediction: Michigan 27, Purdue 14 Michigan -5.5 (3 Units - Money Pick) -- Correct; +$300 Michigan 48, Purdue 21
Kent State (3-3) at Ohio State (6-0) Line: Ohio State by 31. Saturday, 12:00 ET This is a late addition to my picks. I forgot that an e-mailer once pointed out to me that Jim Tressel sucks against MAC opponents, for whatever reason. Kent State can score because its quarterback, Julian Edelman, is a dual threat. Prediction: Ohio State 34, Kent State 14 Kent State +31 (1 Unit) -- Incorrect; -$110 Ohio State 48, Kent State 3
Virginia Tech (5-1) at Duke (1-5) Line: Virginia Tech by 13.5. Saturday, 12:00 ET Virginia Tech is coming off a huge victory against Clemson, and could be walking into a trap game at Duke. The Blue Devils have a great offense, led by quarterback Thaddeus Lewis, one of the top signal-callers in the ACC. With 96 percent of the money on the visitor, I'll take the points. Prediction: Virginia Tech 23, Duke 20 Duke +13.5 (4 Units - Double Money Pick) -- Incorrect; -$440 Virginia Tech 43, Duke 14
Illinois (5-1) at Iowa (2-4) Line: Illinois by 4. Saturday, 12:00 ET This is a tough spot for the Fighting Illini. They're coming off two huge home victories over Penn State and Wisconsin, and they have Michigan next week. Iowa isn't good, but it isn't as bad as its record indicates. With tons of action coming in on Illinois, I'll take the points. Prediction: Illinois 20, Iowa 17 Iowa +4 (1 Unit) -- Correct; +$100 Iowa 10, Illinois 6
San Diego State (2-3) at Utah (3-3) Line: Utah by 14. Saturday, 3:00 ET Following Utah's previous huge victory, a 44-6 drilling of UCLA, the team was blanked by UNLV, 27-0. The Utes also lost to Air Force. They're not that good. They could be flat as a double-digit favorite in a Mountain West rivalry. Prediction: Utah 16, San Diego State 10 San Diego State +14 (2 Units - Money Pick) -- Incorrect; -$220 Utah 23, San Diego State 7
Wisconsin (5-1) at Penn State (4-2) Line: Penn State by 7. Saturday, 3:30 ET Like Purdue, Wisconsin was also exposed as a fraud against Illinois. Now that their perfect season is over, I think the Badgers fall to Penn State. At first glance, taking the Nittany Lions to cover a touchdown seemed like a bit much. Then I thought about it - the oddsmaker is sending us a message by making Penn State -7. He wants bettors to take the points. Ninety percent of the money in Vegas is on Wisconsin. I'll take the Nits. Prediction: Penn State 27, Wisconsin 10 Penn State -7 (1 Unit) -- Correct; +$100 Penn State 38, Wisconsin 7
LSU (6-0) at Kentucky (5-1) Line: LSU by 10. Saturday, 3:30 ET I don't have a strong opinion on this game, but I've had so much success with Kentucky I thought I'd give them another shot. It's a shame the Wildcats aren't undefeated; Andre' Woodson had three horrendous turnovers and Rafael Little fumbled the ball twice against South Carolina, yet Kentucky was in the game. LSU could be flat after its victory over Florida, and I like how 90 percent of the public is on the Tigers. Prediction: LSU 38, Kentucky 31 Kentucky +10 (1 Unit) -- Correct; +$100 Kentucky 43, LSU 37
Louisville (3-3) at Cincinnati (6-0) Line: Cincinnati by 10.5. Saturday, 7:00 ET Call me crazy, but I don't think Cincinnati is ready to be favored by double digits over a solid team. I love taking the points with the better quarterback, and grabbing double digits in a big rivalry seems like the right thing to do anyway. Prediction: Cincinnati 34, Louisville 31 Louisville +10.5 (4 Units - Double Money Pick) -- Correct; +$400 Louisville 28, Cincinnati 24 Second-Half Bets Check back at halftime to see if I have any plays posted. All picks 2 Units, unless noted. Back to WalterFootball.com Home Go to my 2008 NFL Mock Draft
