By the way, the fifth-annual Walter/Joker Annual Challenge is on, as I'll be competing with the Joker's College Picks. We each pick five games and see who does the best each week.
Iowa State at Tulsa. Line: Tulsa by 2.5. Thursday, 7:30 p.m.
As a disclaimer, don't go nuts with my college football picks. I'm much better at picking NFL games (at least I used to be). Follow @walterfootball for updates.
What the hell is Tulsa doing as a favorite? They were blown out by Bowling Green, for crying out loud. Iowa State is 0-2, but was most recently competitive against Iowa. The Cyclones should be able to win this game.
College Football Pick: Iowa State +2.5 (2 Units) -- Correct; +$200
Miami of Ohio at Illinois. Line: Illinois by 25. Saturday, 12:00 p.m.
I mentioned the following dynamic in this spot last week: "I love betting on very talented teams coming off byes that get to take on far inferior foes. It's almost always a blowout." Illinois isn't a super power, but it dismantled Cincinnati two weeks ago. Miami of Ohio, sitting at 0-3, has lost by 30-plus to Marshall and Kentucky this season.
College Football Pick: Illinois -25 (2 Units) -- Correct; +$200
Arizona at Washington. Line: Washington by 10.5. Saturday, 7:00 p.m.
Arizona is too good to be getting double digits. I know the Wildcats haven't had much competition yet, but I think it says a lot that they've been blowing out inferior competition. Lots of value with Arizona here.
College Football Pick: Arizona +10.5 (3 Units) -- Incorrect; -$330
Stanford at Washington State. Line: Stanford by 10. Saturday, 10:00 p.m.
Washington State is another Pac-12 team that isn't getting the respect it deserves. I think the difference between these two teams is slimmer than 10 points on a neutral field. Like Arizona, the Cougars have been demolishing their competition.
College Football Pick: Washington State +10 (2 Units) -- Incorrect; -$220
California at Oregon. Line: Oregon by 36. Saturday, 10:30 p.m.
I'm taking Oregon for the same reason I'm betting Illinois. The Ducks have had a week off to prepare for this garbage California squad that barely beat 1-AA Portland State.
College Football Pick: Oregon -36 (3 Units) -- Correct; +$300
