Debaclation Nation

Welcome to the new Debaclation Nation, a fancy title for this Web site's new poll center.

Each Wednesday, I'll post an interesting (or boring) Debaclation Nation poll so you can vote and argue over it. I'll keep the Debaclation Nation polls archived, so you can go back and keep arguing or see who was right.

I thought I'd start off easy this week with a question everyone would love to know the answer to: Whom or what should you bet on in the Super Bowl?

Feb. 2

I'll take the points & Pittsburgh even though I want GB to win. The poll is nice addition to an already kick ass site. Keep up the good work Walt.

Logic tells me to take the under. The last three defensive players of the year are all in this game including all three of the highest vote getters for this year's award, not to mention the two best scoring defenses, two of the best safeties in the game, three of the best pass rushers in the game and two of the best nose tackles, not to mention Brett Keisel's beard. With that said I'm taking the over. All it takes is three touchdowns from each team and a field goal to win the game at the end and its 45 points, which is exactly how I see this game going down. Steelers 24 Packers 21.

I've always loved the numbers game of playing the over/under. The trouble with this one is (as Wesley C points out) you have defenses giving up a combined ~29 points per game and the offenses only average ~47.

Using that logic it seems like the number should be closer to 40, but big plays on offense and the high probability of a defensive touchdown make this an over game for me even at 44. Never mind that these teams combined for 73 the last time around.

I really hate over-unders. They're so unpredictable for me. I've never been able to figure them out.

Just to remind everyone, Pittsburgh and Green Bay are #1 and #2 in points allowed

Vegas usually gets carried away with the over/under when 2 great offenses or 2 great defenses meet in a big game. Remember Auburn/Oregon (2 great offenses-under) and Baltimore/Pittsburgh (Playoffs) (2 great defenses - over) 44 is a relatively safe number to go over on.

First comment... we're going to have comment boards like this all over the site soon. We're still working out the kinks, so this is not the finished product.
