With the 2018 NFL Draft in the books, it is only fair to dish out some awards for a job well done by a number of teams across the NFL. It also doesn’t hurt to look at which teams may have made regrettable picks.

Biggest Reach Day 2: Dallas Cowboys: Connor Williams, OT, Texas
Williams was projected by many media members to be a first-round pick, but I know teams that him graded as low as the fourth or fifth round, and I share their opinion. There are a lot of problems for Williams in the NFL. The biggest issues is that he is not strong at all. He plays soft and gets pushed around. Williams lacks strength in his base and speed rushers can give him problems. He has an issue with sustaining blocks with defenders able to break away from his blocks. Williams is a tweener guard/tackle. His height and lack of length would fit better at guard. However his lack of strength would be very problematic on the inside as strong or heavy nose tackles will give him problems. His feet and athleticism would fit better at tackle, but he lacks strength there and has his speed-rusher issue. I think Williams is a smaller and weaker version of Luke Joeckel. Thus, I think Williams has a real shot at being a bust.

Williams was a media-hype creation, and Dallas went for it, but many other teams had him graded well into Day 3. Taking him in the top-50 picks was a huge reach by the Cowboys.

Honorable mentions: San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Dante Pettis, New York Giants linebacker Lorenzo Carter, Arizona Cardinals center Mason Cole, Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Chukwuma Okorafor and Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Dorian O’Daniel.

2017 Winner: C.J. Beathard, 49ers

2015 Winner: Jordan Richards, Patriots
2014 Winner: Jack Mewhort, Colts
