For my final entry of the 2018 NFL Draft live blog, here's a link to my latest 2019 Mock Draft. I will have an update going up on Monday morning! The Packers with two first-round picks thanks to the Saints, but where I have the Saints picking will make New Orleans fans thrilled.
Next year's draft has an insane group of defensive linemen. There is a crazy amount of talent there, and a linebacker that some scouts have raved about to me comparing him to Ray Lewis. However, it is not a good year for quarterbacks at this point. Thus, I think the Giants really screwed up this year. Any ways here's my latest 2019 mock. Thanks for reading all my and Walt's hard work on Walter Football. We really appreciate it!!! Cheers!!!!

Trey Quinn is a nice Mr. Irrelevant pick. I think he could compete to make the Redskins roster as a slot receiver. That was a nice finish to an excellent draft for Washington.
4/28/2018 6:44 PM by Charlie Campbell
I like the Bengals pick of Auden Tate here late in the seventh round. He's a giant and a red zone weapon. Last year he showed that his size is really tough to cover when he leapt over Minkah Fitzpatrick to catch a touchdown for Florida State. I think Tate could also grow into being a receiver tight end if he is able to block well enough.
4/28/2018 6:41 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Chargers needed some backup talent at running back and Justin Jackson is a sleeper that could be a good value for Los Angeles. He ran for a lot of yards and was a steady producer for Northwestern.
4/28/2018 6:25 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Rams took a nice seventh-round player in SMU defensive end Justin Lawler. He doesn't have a big time skill set, but he finds a way to win. He had a strong week of practice at the East-West Shrine. Lawler could be a late-rounder that sticks as the guy refuses to quit and figures out to be effective.
4/28/2018 6:17 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Packers draft a long snapper! Typically they go undrafted and get signed as free agents.
4/28/2018 6:14 PM by Charlie Campbell
In the seventh round, Bo Scarbrough isn't a bad pick for the Cowboys. It makes sense to build up their depth behind Ezekiel Elliott. Scarbrough also should transition well to teams.
4/28/2018 6:07 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Philadelphia Eagles just drafted a rugby player that has never played American football. Wow, just crazy. Reminds me of the Vikings wasting a pick on the German wide receiver Mortiz Boeringer a few years ago.
4/28/2018 6:03 PM by Charlie Campbell
James Looney was a quality seventh-round pick for Green Bay. He had a strong week of practice at the East-West Shrine. He was quick at the point of attack.
4/28/2018 6:00 PM by Charlie Campbell
In the seventh round here I think the Bears got a nice receiver in Javon Wims. He came on strong late last year and easily could have gone a round or two earlier.
4/28/2018 5:49 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Raiders got a nice seventh round receiver in Marcell Ateman. He has mismatch size and made some big plays for Oklahoma State last year.
4/28/2018 5:43 PM by Charlie Campbell
At this point in the draft, teams are drafting a lot for special teams. I think it makes sense to go for a lot of boom or bust types at this point. The odds of a sixth-round pick sticking in the NFL is less than 10%. A seventh-rounder is less than 20%. So the odds are against it and why not take some players with boom potential.
4/28/2018 5:33 PM by Charlie Campbell
I like the Seahawks pick of FIU quarterback Alex McGough. He has a nice arm and athleticism. He will be a good fit as a backup quarterback for Seattle.
4/28/2018 5:32 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Patriots get a backup quarterback Danny Etling. LSU's passing game struggled, but Etling flashed at times.
4/28/2018 5:24 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Ravens needed interior offensive line help and got some depth with Alabama center Bradley Bozeman. I wasn't a fan of Bozeman and I'm not confident he sticks in the NFL, but Baltimore has done really well drafting mid and late-round offensive linemen under Ozzie Newsome. Newsome is a Hall of Fame general manager so I trust his eyes every day of the week more than my own. Perhaps Bozeman will be another steal for Baltimore.
4/28/2018 5:19 PM by Charlie Campbell
I think the Texans just wasted a pick on Peter Kalambayi. He flashed early on at his time at Stanford but did not develop at all over the past few seasons. At best he is a backup linebacker and special teams player. I think there's a good chance he gets cut and is a practice squad player next fall.
4/28/2018 5:13 PM by Charlie Campbell
Hahaha, I had the Texans taking Jordan Thomas with that pick in my final mock draft. However it was the wrong Jordan Thomas. I had the one from Oklahoma going to Houston and not the tight end from Mississippi State they just selected.
Thomas and Jordan Akins give Houston a tight end tandem. However I think the Texans screwed up by not signing Austin Seferian-Jenkins or Eric Ebron in free agency.
4/28/2018 5:12 PM by Charlie Campbell
I had the Patriots taking Braxton Berrios in my final 2018 Mock Draft. That fit made all kinds of sense. New England loves the shifty slot receivers and Berrios fits that.
4/28/2018 5:06 PM by Charlie Campbell
I loved St. Brown and think he is going to be a massive steal for the Packers. He's a big receiver with good route-running and athleticism. The quarterback play at Notre Dame killed him, but entering last year he looked like a potential early-rounder.
4/28/2018 5:05 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/28/2018 4:59 PM by Charlie Campbell
Seeing these commercials for the NBA playoffs has me trying to remember when was the last time I watched a NBA game. I think it's been 20 years.
4/28/2018 4:52 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Jaguars aren't getting a replacement for Blake Bortles in Tanner Lee, but he could be a nice backup quarterback for Jacksonville.
4/28/2018 4:50 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Bucs taking Jack Cichy is an interesting selection. Cichy was a really good player for Wisconsin in 2016. He missed all of last year with a ACL, but if he had stayed healthy and repeated his performance he could have been a second-day pick.
4/28/2018 4:48 PM by Charlie Campbell
Falk gives the Titans a talented young backup to develop behind Marcus Mariota. In the sixth round that's a nice pick for Tennessee.
4/28/2018 4:42 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/28/2018 4:42 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/28/2018 4:38 PM by Charlie Campbell
Shaun Dion Hamilton makes sense for the Redskins to give them some linebacker depth and special teams contributor.
4/28/2018 4:30 PM by Charlie Campbell
Jamil Demby is an interesting pick for the Rams. I know some evaluators that were really impressed with the Maine product at the NFLPA All-Star game. Demby could be a good developmental tackle for Los Angeles.
4/28/2018 4:29 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/28/2018 4:27 PM by Charlie Campbell
Kamrin Moore struggled for Boston College last year and I think the Saints blew a pick there as well. I know teams that gave him undrafted grades.
4/28/2018 4:07 PM by Charlie Campbell
I think the Bills wasted a pick on Ray-Ray McCloud. He was a one-trick pony at Clemson and his one trick wasn't very good. McCloud was hyped a lot and never lived up to it.
4/28/2018 4:03 PM by Charlie Campbell
ESPN needs help for their graphic guys. They had Martinas Rankin as a CB, and earlier had Billy Price or James Daniels as a CB. They probably devoted too much money and resources on WokeCenter.
4/28/2018 3:55 PM by Charlie Campbell
At this point in the draft, a lot of agents are hoping their players go undrafted. They would prefer to have their choice of who they sign with rather than getting selected late. Agents look at the depth chart and coaching staff to see if teams will give their player a real shot at making the roster.
4/28/2018 3:53 PM by Charlie Campbell
Arizona Cardinals cornerback Christian Campbell has a unique combination of size and speed. He should be a special teams contributor for Arizona.
4/28/2018 3:51 PM by Charlie Campbell
Folorunso Fatukasi was a steal for the Jets in the sixth round. He was very good at the East-West Shrine showing run stuffing ability and some quickness in the pass rush. Fatukasi could quickly be a good rotational contributor for New York.
4/28/2018 3:45 PM by Charlie Campbell
Parry Nickerson was a good selection for the Jets in the sixth round. He has the ability to be a starting nickel.
4/28/2018 3:39 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/28/2018 3:38 PM by Charlie Campbell
John Kelly was a nice pick for the Rams. He gives them a versatile backup for Todd Gurley. Last year Los Angeles gave Gurley too many touches. They need to cut down on his work load some to protect his health. Kelly will help them do that.
4/28/2018 3:36 PM by Charlie Campbell
Marquez Valdes-Scantling was one of my favorite day three sleepers. He is big wide out that has deep speed. He could be a steal for the Packers.
4/28/2018 3:24 PM by Charlie Campbell
One of the things that I can't stand about the TV draft experts is they talk about every pick as being a good choice and general managers always make a wise move with that spot. If that's the case busts wouldn't exist and nobody would ever be fired. The TV media is talking up Dave Gettleman while I think he's having a terrible draft for the Giants.
4/28/2018 3:13 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Vikings get the top kicker in the draft with Daniel Carlson. He was phenomenal at Auburn and will be very reliable kicking in their dome.
4/28/2018 3:10 PM by Charlie Campbell
I like the Natrell Jamerson pick for the Saints. With Kenny Vaccaro leaving in free agency, Jamerson gives New Orleans some depth at safety. Jamerson has speed and ball skills.
4/28/2018 3:09 PM by Charlie Campbell
I love the Redskins doubling up at nose tackle with Tim Settle. With Da'Ron Payne and Settle, Washington massively upgrades their run defense with two big powerful tackles to plug up the middle in heavy sets. They also can rotate as the nose in the middle of three man fronts and keep each other fresh. Doug Williams is having an awesome draft for the Redskins.
4/28/2018 3:07 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/28/2018 3:06 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/28/2018 2:55 PM by Charlie Campbell
I had the Rams draft Ogbo Okoronkwo in my final mock draft. It made sense as Los Angeles needed edge rush to replace Robert Quinn. Okoronkwo could be a situational pass rusher quickly in his NFL career.
4/28/2018 2:54 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Colts pick of Daurice Fountain is an interesting one. They needed some receivers to go around T.Y. Hilton. Fountain has size and quickness. He could develop into a good No.2 or 3 receiver.
4/28/2018 2:47 PM by Charlie Campbell
Andrew Brown was a nice value pick for the Bengals in the fifth round. He has an early-round skill set with size, speed, and athleticism. He slid in part because teams question his dedication to football as he could leave football early for a musical career, similar to Miami defensive end Chad Thomas. Cincinnati has Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlap in the last year of their contracts, so the Bengals needed some defensive line depth.
4/28/2018 2:44 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/28/2018 2:42 PM by Charlie Campbell
Siran Neal was a nice sleeper pick for the Bills. He has the ability to play corner and safety is impressive. He could be a valuable backup in the secondary that also contributes on special teams.
4/28/2018 2:40 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Cowboys trading for Tavon Austin is a desperation move. Austin is just a gimmick player that has never translated to the NFL. He was a bust for Les Snead and the Rams, yet they rewarded with him a big contract extension even though he has never had a big season of production. Dallas was desperate for receiver help, so I guess if Austin was a give away it makes sense to take a shot in the dark on him.
4/28/2018 2:19 PM by Charlie Campbell
I had the Steelers taking Marcus Allen in my final 2018 Mock Draft and it made a lot of sense. Pittsburgh could use some safety depth and Allen should at least be a solid backup and special teams contributor.
4/28/2018 2:10 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Bucs get some good wide receiver depth with Justin Watson. DeSean Jackson is just a short-term contributor at this point of his career. It makes for Tampa Bay to get more receiving talent to develop and potentially find their future No.2 complement for Mike Evans.
4/28/2018 2:03 PM by Charlie Campbell
Shaquem Griffin goes to Seattle and reunites him with his brother Shaquill Griffin. The cornerback the Seahawks took in the third round last year. Shaquem Griffin will be an outside linebacker edge rusher and special teams contributor.
4/28/2018 2:01 PM by Charlie Campbell
Hurst is a fast three technique defensive tackle that can be a good interior pass rusher. Hurst is a liability in run defense and he has to get stronger for the NFL. If Hurst and Arden Key pan out they could be massive steals for Oakland as both had early-round ability.
4/28/2018 2:00 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/28/2018 1:58 PM by Charlie Campbell
I know some scouts that liked R.J. McIntosh and others that thought he was awful. McIntosh is a three technique in a 4-3 defense and a five technique end in a 3-4. He'll play the latter for New York.
4/28/2018 1:54 PM by Charlie Campbell
Dalton Schultz is a good tight end value for Dallas. I heard scouts compare him to Jason Witten. Schultz is a good blocker and was an under utilized receiver. Schultz has more speed and athleticism than given credit. This could be a steal for the Cowboys.
4/28/2018 1:53 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Panthers got a good designated pass rusher in Marquis Haynes. He is a true quarterback hunter off the edge. Haynes doesn't have the size to be a three down defensive end and doesn't fit as an outside linebacker. But Haynes is a natural pass rusher that will be a good fit as a rotational edge rusher.
4/28/2018 1:44 PM by Charlie Campbell
Chase Edmonds is a nice backup running back for David Johnson. Edmonds showed impressive speed and cutting ability at the East-West Shrine and he had big production in college. Staying healthy is a challenge for him, but being a backup with less of a work load could help him to stay on the field.
4/28/2018 1:40 PM by Charlie Campbell
J'Mon Moore is a nice pick for Green Bay to provide some receiving depth. He played well at times last year and I think Missouri quarterback Drew Lock is going to miss him.
4/28/2018 1:33 PM by Charlie Campbell
I've had the Dolphins taking a running back with this pick in my final mock and this morning's redraft. Miami could use some running back depth behind Kenyon Drake and Ballage has big-time potential. He has real size, speed, and explosiveness. He has been an underachiever, but perhaps he figures it out as a pro.
4/28/2018 1:31 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/28/2018 1:30 PM by Charlie Campbell
Josh Sweat is a nice pick for the Eagles as a rotational edge rusher. Sweat has a bad knee that could end his NFL career early, but during his rookie contract he could be a nice rotational player for Philadelphia.
4/28/2018 1:29 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Jaguars took another player with character concerns in Will Richardson. They needed tackle depth and Richardson has some talent.
4/28/2018 1:24 PM by Charlie Campbell
Kentavius Street would have been a second-day pick if it weren't for tearing an ACL in a pre-draft workout. Street will probably miss the 2018 season, but he could be a nice value pick for the 49ers starting in 2019.
4/28/2018 1:23 PM by Charlie Campbell
Boycott Solo!!! The Last Jedi was awful!!!!
4/28/2018 1:17 PM by Charlie Campbell
It makes sense that the Falcons took some running back depth with Ito Smith. Tevin Coleman is nearing free agency and after the contract they gave Devonta Freeman they probably won't re-sign Coleman.
4/28/2018 1:14 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Eagles taking Avonte Maddox was a pick I had in my final mock draft. Philadelphia needed some cornerback talent and depth as Ronald Darby might not be re-signed. Maddox is a good cover corner as a nickel.
4/28/2018 1:09 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Dolphins take Notre Dame tight end Durham Smythe. A good blocker in the ground game, and he has more pass receiving skills than his stats illustrate. He's a nice fit for Miami as second-round pick Mike Gesicki is a terrible blocker. Smythe and Gesicki balance each other out.
4/28/2018 1:07 PM by Charlie Campbell
Taron Johnson could challenge for playing time for Buffalo. He's a small corner with upside. At least he should be a good special teams player. Kenny Young is a good backup linebacker and special teams contributor for the Ravens.
4/28/2018 1:03 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Seahawks taking Washington tight end Will Dissly makes sense for helping Seattle to get their running game back on track. Dissly is a good blocker. He'll help open holes for Rashaad Penny.
4/28/2018 1:02 PM by Charlie Campbell
ESPN and other draft media had Anthony Averett as a first-roudner for a long time, but he was never close to that with teams. He struggles playing the ball and allows catches over him. Averett and Marlon Humphrey get reunited with Baltimore.
4/28/2018 1:01 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Chargers doubled up at safety like I had them doing in my final mock draft. Kyzir White is a physical safety that hits hard in the middle of the field. He had a quality showing at the Senior Bowl. Derwin James and Kyzir White give Los Angeles a young safety tandem.
4/28/2018 12:59 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/28/2018 12:58 PM by Charlie Campbell
Tampa Bay taking Pitt safety Jordan Whitehead is a nice value. Whitehead was awesome as a freshman. As a junior he played running back and safety. Whitehead has off the field issues and he was going to get suspended again if he had returned for his senior year. Whitehead could fit as a free safety with Justin Evans.
4/28/2018 12:55 PM by Charlie Campbell
Dorance Armstrong is an excellent pick for the Cowboys. He was awesome in the 2016 season. Last year he saw a ton of double teams and sent plays away from him. Armstrong is a dangerous edge rusher and he could be a steal for Dallas.
4/28/2018 12:52 PM by Charlie Campbell
Joe Iyiegbuniwe gives the Bears a good backup linebacker and special teams player.
4/28/2018 12:48 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/28/2018 12:47 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/28/2018 12:43 PM by Charlie Campbell
It was brought to my attention that I had the Raiders taking Nick Nelson in my redraft mock of round 4. Makes sense as Oakland needed more cornerback talent and Nelson is a steal in the fourth round. Here's a scouting report on Nelson. http://www.walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2018nnelson.php
4/28/2018 12:42 PM by Charlie Campbell
Rams general manager Les Snead took Brian Allen in the fourth round but that was a huge reach. I knew teams that had graded him as a seventh-round pick. He is going to struggle in the NFL with strength and length as Allen is really undersized.
4/28/2018 12:39 PM by Charlie Campbell
My computer froze up, so I'm behind on a few picks. Troy Apke was a nice pick for the Redskins. He will be at least a good special teams player with his freaky speed and size.
4/28/2018 12:31 PM by Charlie Campbell
Kyle Lauletta has some limitations but he could at least be a solid backup in the NFL. Lauletta had a good Senior Bowl to help himself.
4/28/2018 12:28 PM by Charlie Campbell
Chris Herndon is a solid pick for the Jets. The Miami coaches loved Herndon and raved about him. He's a well balanced tight end that will block and can contribute some as a receiver.
4/28/2018 12:26 PM by Charlie Campbell
I had the Broncos taking Josey Jewell in my final mock draft. He made sense to give Denver some depth at linebacker and a player that could be a solid contributor.
4/28/2018 12:24 PM by Charlie Campbell
I had the Browns taking Antonio Callaway in my final mock draft. He is a phenomenal receiver, and was suspended all of last year. Callaway loves football, but has issues with smoking and getting in trouble. Scouts have compared Callaway to Antonio Brown and he could be a tremendous steal for the Browns. I think Callaway could learn a lot from Josh Gordon.
4/28/2018 12:21 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Colts just made a really interesting pick with Nyhemi Hines. He's a very fast running back and a dangerous returner. In the fourth round he could provide good bang for the buck for Indianapolis.
4/28/2018 12:19 PM by Charlie Campbell
KeKe Coutee also is a major project as a route-runner. In the Texas Tech gimmick offense. They had a lot of plays where he didn't even run routes, they would just scramble and the receivers were to run to open territory. Coutee is probably more of a teams returner, but he's undersized and I can see him getting injured quickly in the NFL.
4/28/2018 12:18 PM by Charlie Campbell
Well I was wrong there about Nick Nelson, the Texans take a slot receiver in Keke Coutee. I had Houston taking Coutee in the sixth round of my final mock draft.
I think the Texans should have taken Nelson or Miami running back Mark Walton. Coutee is just competition for Braxton Miller in the slot. Considering how old the Houston cornerbacks are, I think this was a mistake by the Texans.
4/28/2018 12:14 PM by Charlie Campbell
I'm predicting the Texans go with Wisconsin cornerback Nick Nelson here.
4/28/2018 12:14 PM by Charlie Campbell
I'm predicting the Texans go with Wisconsin cornerback Nick Nelson here.
4/28/2018 12:13 PM by Charlie Campbell
Jalyn Holmes is a nice pick for Minnesota. He gives them a rotational defensive end that has a lot of upside. He has size, speed, and athleticism. Holmes could end up being a better pro than he was in college. Last year Ohio State had a huge group of defensive ends with Holmes, Tyquan Lewis, Sam Hubbard, and Nick Bosa. Holmes didn't get as much reps as the other three, but he flashed in his limited opportunities.
4/28/2018 12:10 PM by Charlie Campbell
Ian Thomas slid in the draft because some teams had concerns about Thomas learning their playbook. Still he is a good athlete and has real upside with size, speed, and receiving potential. Thomas gives Carolina a good backup tight end behind Greg Olsen.
4/28/2018 12:04 PM by Charlie Campbell
Justin Reid had some ugly movements as a slot corner late in the season including the Pac 12 championship where Sam Darnold and USC picked on him relentlessly. The drop off in tape hurt him, and he was just one of those players that had a slide as teams addressed other needs.
4/28/2018 12:03 PM by Charlie Campbell
I was sent this question from yesterday after I wrote that character concerns caused Ronnie Harrison to slide, this question on Justin Reid came in:
Charlie I liked the report on Harrison slipping...anything on why Reid slipped as well?

Some of my favorite players available are:
Notre Dame WR Equanimeous St. Brown
Virginia Tech DT Tim Settle
Michigan DT Maurice Hurst
Wisconsin CB Nick Nelson
Kansas OLB Dorance Armstrong
Washington State QB Luke Falk

4/27/2018 11:00 PM by Charlie Campbell
Dorian O'Daniel was a reach to close out the third round. I knew a number of teams that had him graded in the fifth round. The highest I had heard was fourth round.
4/27/2018 10:56 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Texans needed a tight end after the retirement of C.J. Fiedorowicz. Jordan Akins should contribute quickly for Houston as they have really missed receiving contributions from the tight end position for years. Akins could help Deshaun Watson next fall.
4/27/2018 10:53 PM by Charlie Campbell
Deuce Lutui was painful. Mason Cole is a solid player, but not special. I think he's more of a backup quality player in the NFL.
4/27/2018 10:49 PM by Charlie Campbell
Phillips is a slight reach on day two. Other teams had him graded well into day three of the draft. Buffalo needed young talent at defensive tackle.
4/27/2018 10:47 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/27/2018 10:37 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/27/2018 10:35 PM by Charlie Campbell
I remember when some in the draft media had Chukwuma Okorafor as a first-round pick, but teams never viewed him that high. He has to get stronger and needs development before he can play in the NFL.
4/27/2018 10:30 PM by Charlie Campbell
Tre'Quan Smith gives the Saints a No.2 receiver to go with Michael Thomas. Smith has some big play ability and he is a great fit in Sean Payton's offense.
4/27/2018 10:29 PM by Charlie Campbell
Deadrin Senat is a bit of a reach in the third round, but he is a strong nose tackle that can stuff the run. He has a sawed off build and could be a quick replacement for Dontari Poe.
4/27/2018 10:24 PM by Charlie Campbell
Oren Burks is a solid pick for the Packers. He has good instincts, is a versatile defender and could contribute quickly for Green Bay.
4/27/2018 10:22 PM by Charlie Campbell
If Arden Key stays out of trouble and focused on football, he is going to be a steal for the Raiders. He has a top-20 skill set and had big production during his sophomore year. Key could be awesome across from Khalil Mack.

4/27/2018 10:16 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/27/2018 10:15 PM by Charlie Campbell
B.J. Hill is a good disruptor to go on the inside of Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram. That's a solid pick for the Chargers.
4/27/2018 10:11 PM by Charlie Campbell
Sources tell me the reason why Alabama safety Ronnie Harrison has slid so far is because of character. Harrison graded out on the field as a late first-round, or early second-round pick. However the character issues are scaring teams off and other safeties that weren't as good in college are going ahead of him. Harrison probably should have returned to school and cleaned things up for a year rather than coming out early.
4/27/2018 10:09 PM by Charlie Campbell
Interesting to see Orlando Brown to go to his Dad's old team. Brown could be a nice right tackle in the NFL. He puts a lot of defenders into the turf. If he gets more consistent he could be a force on the right side. Brown and Ronnie Stanley have the potential to be a good bookend tackle tandem.
4/27/2018 10:08 PM by Charlie Campbell
4/27/2018 10:07 PM by Charlie Campbell
Tracy Walker makes sense for Detroit. They needed a safety to pair with Glover Quin. Strong safety has been a weakness and Walker could fix that, but he will need some development.
4/27/2018 10:02 PM by Charlie Campbell
Sources told me this week that the Colorado State coaching staff did not give NFL teams good feedback on Michael Gallup. The Cowboys are desperate for receiving talent, and Gallup is a nice player so I'm not surprised they looked past the personal makeup concerns.
4/27/2018 9:59 PM by Charlie Campbell
Martinas Rankin could easily beat out Julien Davenport to be the Texans starting left tackle next fall. Rankin overachieves and he has great character. He could be a steal for Houston.

The Chiefs taking Derrick Nnadi gives them a nice disruptive nose tackle for the middle of their 3-4 defense. He is a strong run defender and will man the zero technique well for KC.
4/27/2018 9:47 PM by Charlie Campbell
Christian was an excellent pick for the Redskins. He has the skill set to be a starting left tackle. He is raw and needs development, but Washington has one of the best OL coaches in the NFL. Christian could start out at guard as the Redskins had a hole there, but in time he could be a starting tackle. Great pick by Doug Williams and the Redskins.

4/27/2018 9:44 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Dolphins grabbing Jerome Baker makes sense as Miami was desperate at linebacker. He can be a Will linebacker with Kiko Alonzo in the middle and Raekwon McMillan at Sam. Second year in a row that the Dolphins take an Ohio State linebacker on day two.
4/27/2018 9:38 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Jets needed some young talent on the defensive line after getting rid of Mo Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson over the past couple of years. Nathan Shephard was a player that a lot of teams liked and he's a quality third-round pick for New York.
4/27/2018 9:36 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Broncos get a good downhill runner in Royce Freeman. He can be the bell cow back that Denver needs to replace C.J. Anderson. The Broncos are having a strong draft.
4/27/2018 9:35 PM by Charlie Campbell
San Francisco really needed help at linebacker so taking Fred Warner makes sense. The 49ers is praying that Reuben Foster stays out of prison so they don't have another hole at linebacker.
4/27/2018 9:30 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Giants pick of B.J. Hill is a head-scratcher. He's more of a 4-3 defensive tackle than a 3-4 defender. In that scheme he will probably have to play nose tackle.

Lorenzo Carter is an underachiever and I don't think that is going to change in New York. The Giants have transitioned from a 4-3 to a 3-4, and Carter fits as an outside linebacker. Still, I think Carter won't pan out in the NFL.

Walter Football was the first in the media to write about Brandon Parker being a second-day talent for the 2018 NFL Draft. Parker and Kolton Miller give the Raiders to young bookend tackles. Nice pick for Oakland.
4/27/2018 9:18 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Colts trading up for Tyquan Lewis is a bit of a reach. He's a tweener defensive end/tackle. For Indianapolis he will play a five technique.

The Steelers reached on Washington in round 2. He has a running back build and that is a problem in the NFL. He has build up speed and not instant first step explosion. This pick by Pittsburgh reminds me of the Steelers taking Markus Wheaton on day two in 2013. Wheaton didn't translate to the NFL and I think that could happen with Washington.

There isn't a huge drop off from Saquon Barkley to Derrius Guice, but the Redskins got Guice late in round 2. Whereas the Giants passed on franchise quarterbacks for Barkley. Better value out of their picks for Washington.

Donte Jackson is a smart pick for the Panthers. He is a super fast cover corner that runs the route and prevents separation. He is a gambler that needs to improve his discipline. Jackson will help Carolina matchup against new Falcons speedster Calvin Ridley.

4/27/2018 8:38 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Bengals grab a free safety in Jessie Bates. He is a smart defender and is reliable in the deep part of the field. He tracks the ball well and is able to help teams downfield.
4/27/2018 8:36 PM by Charlie Campbell
M.J. Stewart is a nice player for the Bucs. They needed help at cornerback but they could use one with size. Stewart is a smaller corner and more of a nickel. Between Grimes and Hargreaves they have smaller corners. I think Tampa Bay should have taken Isaiah Oliver or Carlton Davis to give them some size at corner.
4/27/2018 8:32 PM by Charlie Campbell
I'm not a big fan of Kemoko Turay. He was too inconsistent and didn't play up to his potential. Perhaps the Colts will get him to max out, but his lack of steady play is alarming.

I don't like the Cowboys draft. They lack talent at receiver and lost Jason Witten to retirement. Dak Prescott has a serious lack of weapons to throw the ball to. That isn't going to be fixed in the mid-rounds and one can expect that to hurt Dallas throughout the 2018 season.
4/27/2018 8:24 PM by Charlie Campbell
Williams has bust potential. He is too undersized for tackle, and lacks the strength to play guard. Williams got pushed around a lot and had terrible tape from the 2017 season. Williams was a big time reach as some teams had him graded as a fourth-rounder.

Los Angeles took a 3-4 outside linebacker for their 4-3 defense in Uchenna Nwosu. Gus Bradley could use Nwosu as a leo linebacker in their scheme to get after the quarterback. While it isn't a great scheme fit, Nwosu gives the Chargers rotational edge rusher.

I like the Johnson pick for the Lions. Their running game has been awful the past few years and Ameer Abdullah proved to be just backup quality. Johnson has true three-down potential as a runner and receiver.

4/27/2018 7:55 PM by Charlie Campbell
Nate Burleson needs to shut up and announce the pick. America is getting another reason not watch the awful show that is Good Morning Football.
4/27/2018 7:52 PM by Charlie Campbell
Gesicki is a good receiver, but he is not a three down starter at tight end. Gesicki is awful as a blocker. Even against defensive backs Gesicki is a horrendous blocker. But the Dolphins are going for a pure receiver to give Ryan Tannehill a weapon.

Landry makes a lot of sense for the Titans as they needed a young edge rusher. Derrick Morgan and Brian Orakpo could be nearing the end of their time in Tennessee. The Titans struggled to get to the quarterback last year and Landry should help improve their edge rush immediately. Landry is a weak run defender and undersized. Hence he probably will start out as a designated pass rusher and perhaps he develops into a three down starter.

4/27/2018 7:30 PM by Charlie Campbell
The Bucs have to take Derrius Guice here. That's a steal and they need a running back to replace Doug Martin.
4/27/2018 7:28 PM by Charlie Campbell
I don't like the Colts doubling up at guard in the top 36 picks. The edge blocking is still weak along with a ton of holes on defense. They have another second-round pick, but I think the Colts should have gone for a corner like Josh Jackson or Isaiah Oliver to give them a starting corner to go with Quincy Wilson.

Why do they even have the commissioner announce the picks. I think they should have Al Michaels or another great NFL play-by-play voice announce the picks.

Mackensie Alexander has been a disappointment for the Vikings. Mike Hughes upgrades their nickel corner and offers return skills. His added value on special teams could be seen immediately as Minnesota had zero return touchdowns last year. Hughes could form a superb trio with Xavier Rhodes and Trae Waynes.

Taking Rashaad Penny was a reach over Sony Michel and Derrius Guice. I had Penny going early in the second round. Seattle needed to reestablish their ground game and they often make picks that are out of left field.

4/26/2018 9:59 PM by Charlie Campbell
James is an excellent value for the Chargers. He brings a big-time presence to the back end for Los Angeles. James is a violent hitter, and a heat seeking missile with rare speed flying around the field. He can help cover tight ends and serve as the eighth man in the box. Nice pick for Chargers general manager Tom Telesco.

Edmunds is a great pick for the Bills. They were desperate for linebacker help. He is a big linebacker that can play inside or outside, drop in coverage, rush the quarterback, and has a ton of upside.

4/26/2018 9:49 PM by Charlie Campbell
I don't like the Raiders taking Kolton Miller. He's a raw player and needs work. I think they reached on him. Tremaine Edmunds was available and he would have been a huge upgrade to their defense.

4/26/2018 9:41 PM by Charlie Campbell
That is a huge price to pay for a raw defensive end in Marcus Davenport. They needed an end across from Cam Jordan but investing this year's first-round pick and next year's first-round pick in the UTSA defensive end is a shocking move.

I don't like the Roquan Smith fit in a 3-4 defense. He is a true Will linebacker in a 4-3 scheme. Smith is made to be a Tampa 2 linebacker like Derrick Brooks. He's undersized in the ground game and that could get more exposed in a 3-4.

Josh Allen's arm and skill set is a great fit in the conditions that the Bills play in. However, Allen's accuracy issues are going to be challenge for him to overcome. Few quarterbacks become more accurate in the NFL when the windows are smaller.

A few days ago in the Hot Press, I wrote about how Denver was interested in adding a pass rusher. That led me to project Chubb to the Broncos in my final mock draft. Chubb and Von Miller are going to be a scary combination.

I had heard from sources that the Browns loved Denzel Ward and they felt he was the best defensive player in the draft. Passing on Bradley Chubb makes sense. Cleveland would have Myles Garrett and Chubb due for $100 million dollar contracts a year apart. That very difficult to afford, so for the long-term building of the team it makes sense that they passed on Chubb put some resources into cornerback.

I think the Giants passing on a franchise quarterback or a huge package of picks for Saquon Barkley is a big mistake. Barkley is a great prospect, but passing on a quarterback is going to create a huge hole. Barkley and Odell Beckham could have the Giants at 7-9 for years and always picking too low to land a top quarterback prospect.

As I reported in the Hot Press, the Bills want to trade up into the 4-7 range. They're willing to give their two first-rounders, a second-round pick, and maybe a third-round pick. The Giants were asking too much for the No.2 pick, leading sources with the Bills to think that New York is targeting a quarterback despite all the media hype saying they're going to select Saquon Barkley. Buffalo would be targeting Josh Rosen and Josh Allen. The Browns, Broncos, Colts, and Bucs could be in great position to trade down.
