2016 Fantasy Football Rankings - Wide Receivers (Sept. 7):
Top 10 | 11-20 | 21-40 | 41-60 | 61-100

  1. Chris Hogan, WR, Patriots. Bye: 9.
AUG. 27 UPDATE: Chris Hogan led the Patriots in targets with six, catching five balls for 62 yards and a touchdown versus Cleveland. And this was with Julian Edelman on the field! I’d draft Hogan late, but it needs to be noted that Danny Amendola (as well as Rob Gronkowski) was out for this contest.

Chris Hogan had a couple of six-catch performances in the middle of the 2015 season, but struggled toward the end because of a lingering wrist injury. Hogan isn’t relevant in 12-team fantasy leagues unless Julian Edelman sustains an injury.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 64 catches. 690 yards. 4 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 118.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 182.

  2. Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Eagles. Bye: 4.
AUG. 28 UPDATE: Dorial Green-Beckham played some snaps with the starters at Indianapolis and had a mixed evening. It began poorly, when Sam Bradford took a shot toward him in the end zone. Green-Beckham stopped a bit for a second, causing the overthrow. However, Green-Beckham was better after that. He caught a short pass and bounced off a defender to pick up 11 yards. He then caught a 4-yard touchdown on a fade over the top of a scrub Indianapolis corner. Those were Green-Beckham’s only catches on the evening, but it was evident that the potential is there. With Nelson Agholor struggling, Green-Beckham could emerge as Philadelphia’s No. 2 receiver. I wouldn’t draft him in any 12-man fantasy league, but Green-Beckham will definitely be on the radar for a possible waiver-wire addition.

JUNE 21 UPDATE: Dorial Green-Beckham is currently working with the second team, playing behind rookie Tajae Sharpe. It’s possible that Green-Beckham could overtake Sharpe sometime in the next two months, but this is certainly a dubious start.

Dorial Green-Beckham barely did anything at the beginning of his rookie campaign, but he posted some solid stat lines late, like 5-119-1 against the Jaguars and 6-113 at New England. Green-Beckham did have a couple of duds in between, but that was to be expected. The sky’s the limit for Green-Beckham, who will have a huge boost if Marcus Mariota can stay healthy next year. Jack Conklin should help in that regard.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 46 catches. 710 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 111.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 157.

  3. Davante Adams, WR, Packers. Bye: 4.
AUG. 20 UPDATE: Mike McCarthy praised Davante Adams, telling the media that he had a “very good camp.” Adams had a solid showing in the second preseason game as well. With so many people down on him, Adams could be obtained in the final round of your draft, and it could pay off.

JUNE 21 UPDATE: Mike McCarthy praised Davante Adams’ offseason work. So far, so good for Adams. It would be nice for Adams to rebound, as he was dreadful in 2015, so one thing is for sure: If you want to draft him, you can get him.

When Jordy Nelson was knocked out for the year, many assumed Davante Adams might reach WR2 status. That never happened, as Adams struggled to separate and catch passes. He logged just 50 receptions. With Nelson due back, Adams isn’t much of a fantasy option.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 56 catches. 660 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 106.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 162.

  4. Mike Wallace, WR, Ravens. Bye: 8.
JULY 28 UPDATE: Mike Wallace has failed his conditioning test. Surprise, surprise. Wallace stopped trying at football ever since he left Pittsburgh and ran toward the money in Miami. He made it clear what his priorities were, so it’s no surprise that he has turned into a lazy loser. Wallace is a bum who should be avoided in any league with fewer than 18 teams.

Mike Wallace quit on his team in 2014 and struggled with his new squad this past season. Perhaps he’ll rebound in Baltimore, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 54 catches. 740 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 104.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 158.

  5. Eli Rogers, WR, Steelers. Bye: 8.
AUG. 27 UPDATE: Eli Rogers is definitely worth noting for what he did at New Orleans. Pittsburgh’s new slot receiver, Rogers tied the team lead in targets from Ben Roethlisberger. Though he caught just two balls for 17 yards, he did so in less than a quarter of action. It appears as though Rogers is definitely going to be a factor in Pittsburgh’s offense this upcoming season, and he’s definitely worth a look as a late-round flier in PPR leagues.

AUG. 21 UPDATE: Eli Rogers has narrowed the gap for the competition for Pittsburgh’s No. 3 receiver, according to Ralph Paulk, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. I would hope so. Rogers has been solid through two preseason games. Sammie Coates, on the other hand, doesn’t seem like he knows how to play football.

With Sammie Coates struggling, and Markus Wheaton being very mediocre, one Steeler receiver to consider is Eli Rogers. The team was high on Rogers entering the preseason, and he has lived up to the hype. He caught six passes in the exhibition opener, and he snatched four balls for 39 yards against Philadelphia. At this point, I think I’d rather take a chance on Rogers than Coates.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 52 catches. 710 yards. 4 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 103.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 155.

  6. Terrelle Pryor, WR, Browns. Bye: 13.
If Robert Griffin continues to play well into the regular season, Terrelle Pryor will obviously benefit. Pryor saw two targets in the second preseason game, with his one reception being a 50-yard touchdown bomb. It was a hell of a bomb, as Pryor absolutely torched Pro Bowl cornerback Desmond Trufant, getting several steps on him. I don’t know if I’d draft Pryor yet, but he’s at least in the conversation as a late-round flier.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 45 catches. 670 yards. 4 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 101.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 146.

  7. Torrey Smith, WR, 49ers. Bye: 8.
Torrey Smith was a predictable bust in San Francisco. Why he would leave a winning franchise and go to a team in complete disarray is beyond me. Smith is a buy-low candidate, as he could work in Chip Kelly’s nonsensical offense, but he’s not someone I’m going to draft this summer.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 48 catches. 710 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 101.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 149.

  8. Danny Amendola, WR, Patriots. Bye: 9.
I’m proud to say that I was just five catches and 18 yards off my projected stats for Danny Amendola for 2015. Amendola isn’t much of a factor unless Julian Edelman gets hurt. That’ll probably happen, but Amendola should be on the waiver wire until then.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 60 catches. 660 yards. 3 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 100.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 160.

  9. Cole Beasley, WR, Cowboys. Bye: 7.
Cole Beasley posted career-high figures in 2015, but that meant just 52 catches for 536 yards and five touchdowns. Outside of deep PPR leagues, Beasley has no relevance in fantasy.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 62 catches. 700 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 100.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 162.

  10. Ted Ginn, WR, Panthers. Bye: 7.
I don’t know why Ted Ginn only produces in Carolina, but he’s been so much better there than anywhere else. Ginn caught 10 touchdowns in 2015, which is remarkable considering he had just 11 scores his entire career prior to this past season. Ginn’s numbers will obviously regress to the mean, especially with Kelvin Benjamin due back.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 38 catches. 660 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 96.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 134.

  11. Seth Roberts, WR, Raiders. Bye: 10.
Seth Roberts, at 6-2, 195, was a big-time end-zone target for Derek Carr. He caught five touchdowns, which doesn’t sound like a lot until you notice that he racked up 32 receptions in total. Roberts has potential, but is currently blocked by Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree from being too relevant.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 42 catches. 610 total yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 95.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 137.

  12. Terrance Williams, WR, Cowboys. Bye: 7.
What a huge disappointment. With Dez Bryant out, Terrance Williams was expected to step up. I know he had quarterback issues, but Williams was a non-factor both in fantasy and in real life.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 42 catches. 690 yards. 4 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 93.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 135.

  13. Leonte Carroo, WR, Dolphins. Bye: 8.
JUNE 21 UPDATE: Leonte Carroo has reportedly been impressive this offseason. The Dolphins ranked Carroo as their No. 2 receiver in the 2016 NFL Draft, so they’re going to give him every opportunity to contribute. Carroo isn’t draftable in standard leagues yet, but he’s someone to monitor.

Leonte Carroo was Miami’s second-ranked receiver heading into the 2016 NFL Draft, and the team traded up for him. The Dolphins will give him plenty of opportunities to be part of the offense as a rookie. Still, he’s just waiver-wire fodder for now, but is worth monitoring.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 53 catches. 680 yards. 4 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 92.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 145.

  14. Laquon Treadwell, WR, Vikings. Bye: 6.
AUG. 19 UPDATE: While the Minnesota veteran quarterback excelled, the rookie receiver struggled. Laquon Treadwell saw four passes go his way in the second preseason game, but couldn’t come up with a single reception. He actually almost caught a pass on one occasion, and the sideline clamored for pass interference, to no avail. Later on, Joel Stave overthrew Treadwell, who wasn’t really open. Treadwell doesn’t look ready to play yet, so drafting him right now wouldn’t be very wise.

AUG. 10 UPDATE: Laquon Treadwell might be “phased in over time” this year, according to Bo Mitchell, ESPN. Charles Johnson is running ahead of Treadwell right now. That could change as the season progresses, but Treadwell won’t be doing much in the early going.

JULY 30 UPDATE: Charles Johnson is playing ahead of Laquon Treadwell right now. While that may change soon, Treadwell is not guaranteed playing time early. Recall DeVante Parker with the Dolphins last year, for example. I wouldn’t even consider Treadwell until the final couple of rounds in 12-team formats.

Laquon Treadwell figures to have a prominent role this year as a starter across from Stefon Diggs. The issue, however, is that he’ll be inconsistent, given that the Vikings are so dominant defensively that Teddy Bridgewater often doesn’t have to throw very much.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 46 catches. 670 yards. 4 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 91.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 137.

  15. Rishard Matthews, WR, Titans. Bye: 13.
Rishard Matthews is expected to start across from Dorial Green-Beckham this year. He can be used in leagues with more than 12 teams, but is off the radar otherwise.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 47 catches. 660 yards. 4 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 90.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 137.

  16. Kenny Britt, WR, Rams. Bye: 8.
Kenny Britt is a bum who doesn’t try hard most of the time. There’s no reason to have someone like that on your fantasy roster unless you’re in a 20-team league, or something.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 39 catches. 650 yards. 4 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 89.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 128.

  17. Devin Smith, WR, Jets. Bye: 11.
Devin Smith won’t do much until Brandon Marshall or Eric Decker leaves the Jets. He’ll be worth monitoring on the waiver wire in case one of those two stud receivers gets hurt. In the meantime, he shouldn’t be owned.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 32 catches. 550 yards. 3 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 88.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 120.

  18. Kendall Wright, WR, Titans. Bye: 13.
Kendall Wright caught seven passes for 95 yards and a touchdown in Week 3. And then, he did nothing afterward. Marcus Mariota’s injury didn’t help, but Wright didn’t do anything when the two were reunited. Wright isn’t expected to start.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 53 catches. 640 yards. 4 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 88.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 141.

  19. Jermaine Kearse, WR, Seahawks. Bye: 5.
Jermaine Kearse was Seattle’s No. 2 receiver last year. That won’t be the case going forward, with Tyler Lockett coming on strong.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 45 catches. 630 yards. 4 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 87.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 132.

  20. Mohamed Sanu, WR, Falcons. Bye: 11.
Mohamed Sanu appears to be Atlanta’s new No. 2 receiver, but it’s difficult to envision him being an upgrade over Roddy White – last year’s version – because he can’t get open.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 52 catches. 600 yards. 4 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 84.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 136.

  21. Jamison Crowder, WR, Redskins. Bye: 9.
Jamison Crowder was a reliable target for Kirk Cousins as a rookie, catching 59 passes for 604 yards and two touchdowns. He may not be a factor in non-PPR leagues, as he’s one of those players who is better in real life than in fantasy. Josh Doctson’s presence will also hurt him.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 61 catches. 650 yards. 3 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 83.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 144.

  22. Sammie Coates, WR, Steelers. Bye: 8.
SEPT. 2 UPDATE: R.I.P. Sammie Coates’ fantasy stock. I loved Coates as a sleeper back in July, but he disappointed in every preseason game. That includes this one, where he didn’t catch a single pass. Coates’ fantasy outlook was on life support, but it has officially been pronounced dead.

AUG. 27 UPDATE: Sammie Coates has completely fallen off the map. He was great at OTAs, but that hasn’t translated to the field. Coates was nowhere to be seen with the starters against the Saints. He caught a 56-yard pass in this game, but did so in the second half with Landry Jones.

AUG. 19 UPDATE: Sammie Coates was a favorite Fantasy Football Sleeper of mine a couple of weeks ago. I dropped him a bit last week when he did nothing but fumble. He was even worse in the second preseason contest. He caught two balls for 30 yards, most of which came on great leaping catch along the sideline that had to be reviewed. It was evident that the potential is there for Coates, but he still doesn’t seem like he knows how to be a professional football player. For example, Landry Jones threw a pick-six because Coates didn’t fight hard for the ball when Nolan Carroll jumped the route. Coates was then whistled for offensive pass interference on Carroll. And on one of his final plays, a scrub Philadelphia cornerback basically ran the route for Coates, coming up with an interception in the end zone. I’m going to drop Coates once again, and I no longer recommend him as a late-round flier.

AUG. 13 UPDATE: No one really stood out for Pittsburgh in a positive fashion during the preseason opener. This includes Sammie Coates, who touched the ball for the first time with 90 seconds remaining in the first half. He bobbled the ball, costing himself an opportunity for yardage. He then picked up a first down, but fumbled. Coates finished with three underwhelming catches for 18 yards. I expected much more from Coates, but perhaps he’ll fare better once Ben Roethlisberger returns to the lineup.

AUG. 4 UPDATE: Sammie Coates has been running with the first team in training camp. Chalk this up as yet another positive report for Coatsie, who is ranked No. 1 in my Fantasy Football Sleepers list.

AUG. 2 UPDATE: Sammie Coates has continued to shine in training camp, according to Ray Fittipaldo, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Coates was a star of OTAs, and that has carried over into August. He’s one of my favorite sleepers this year.

JUNE 21 UPDATE: Sammie Coates has been “working out like crazy” and the coaches are talking him up, per Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. It’s believed that Coates will be the primary player to benefit from Martavis Bryant’s suspension. Coates is off to a good start apparently, and he’s definitely a sleeper at the moment.

Sammie Coates logged just one reception in the regular season as a rookie, but he was exceptional in some late practices, and it paid off when he made two grabs for 61 yards in the divisional round of the playoffs. Coates could overtake Markus Wheaton, which is a huge deal considering that Martavis Bryant is suspended for the year.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 42 catches. 620 yards. 3 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 85.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 127.

  23. Josh Doctson, WR, Redskins. Bye: 9.
AUG. 22 UPDATE: Josh Doctson could begin the year on the PUP list, according to Mike Jones, Washington Post. So much for being a fast healer. Doctson will likely be out for the first six games. He hasn’t been draftable for a while.

JULY 29 UPDATE: Josh Doctson is dealing with a lingering Achilles injury. Doctson declared himself as a fast healer, but his failure to recover from this malady says otherwise. Doctson won’t be a factor early in his career. He should be able to start next year, however.

Josh Doctson’s outlook in re-draft formats is bleak this year, given that he’ll be stuck behind DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon. However, both are free agents after 2016, so Doctson will have a big role in 2017 and beyond. He’s a much better option in dynasty formats for that reason.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 30 catches. 490 yards. 3 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 82.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 112.

  24. Chris Moore, WR, Ravens. Bye: 8.
Fourth-round receivers typically don’t do much as rookies, but given Baltimore’s wideout situation, Chris Moore might have a shot. If Breshad Perriman can’t make it back from injury, Moore will see playing time. He’s more of a long-term spec, though.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 24 catches. 390 yards. 3 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 82.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 106.

  25. Nelson Agholor, WR, Eagles. Bye: 4.
AUG. 12 UPDATE: Nelson Agholor looked horrible in his first preseason game. He saw two targets, but couldn’t come up with either one. He dropped a pass, struggled to get open and whiffed on a block that produced a negative play as a result. He shouldn’t be on anyone’s fantasy radar.

JUNE 21 UPDATE: Nelson Agholor is being investigated for sexual assault. Agholor was already having a poor offseason, and this just makes matters worse. There’s no reason to own Agholor this year.

It’s hard to believe Nelson Agholor was a mid-round fantasy pick last summer. He did next to nothing as a rookie. He’s now a buy-low candidate, but I’m just not sure how good he is. I wouldn’t draft him in 12-team leagues.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 46 catches. 620 total yards. 3 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 80.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 126.

  26. Eddie Royal, WR, Bears. Bye: 9.
Think Eddie Royal missed Philip Rivers? In nine games, Royal caught just 37 passes for 238 yards and a touchdown. He’s not on any sort of radar.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 64 catches. 610 yards. 3 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 79.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 143.

  27. Braxton Miller, WR, Texans. Bye: 9.
AUG. 15 UPDATE: Rookie Braxton Miller played most of the first preseason game – he was on the field with the first-stringers and also with the reserves in the third quarter – and his best play was a diving, 24-yard reception along the sideline from Tom Savage. Miller shouldn’t be drafted – at least not yet – but he’s someone to monitor for now, as he led all the starters in targets with three.

Braxton Miller will have to fight Will Fuller and Jaelen Strong for playing time, so his immediate and future outlook is hazy. He has long-term upside, but offers very little in re-draft value.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 46 catches. 590 yards. 3 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 77.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 123.

  28. Dezmin Lewis, WR, Bills. Bye: 10.
Dezmin Lewis was named Buffalo’s minicamp MVP. Lewis was a seventh-round pick in 2015, but he’s been performing much better than that in practice. He could turn into a solid late-round flier if he continues to show well this offseason.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 39 catches. 570 yards. 2 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 75.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 114.

  29. Brandon LaFell, WR, Bengals. Bye: 9.
Brandon LaFell caught 74 passes and seven touchdowns in 2014, but regressed this past year, finishing with just 37 grabs for 515 yards and no scores. He signed with the Bengals, who apparently want to use him in the slot. There’s not much to see here.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 39 catches. 570 yards. 2 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 75.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 114.

  30. Ricardo Louis, WR, Browns. Bye: 13.
Any Cleveland receiver is worth taking a shot on because of the lack of talent at the position. Ricardo Louis could start this year. However, it doesn’t matter too much because of the quarterback situation.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 35 catches. 530 total yards. 3 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 71.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 106.

  31. Robert Woods, WR, Bills. Bye: 10.
I don’t know why Robert Woods is still Buffalo’s No. 2 receiver. There’s no logical explanation for it.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 46 catches. 530 yards. 3 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 71.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 117.

  32. Jaelen Strong, WR, Texans. Bye: 9.
AUG. 21 UPDATE: Jaelen Strong caught three passes for 25 yards against the Saints, but he saw just one target from Brock Osweiler. Strong was ahead of Will Fuller in OTAs and early training camp, but that’s not the case anymore. I no longer recommend Strong as a late-round flier. He appears to be the clear No. 4 wideout on the roster.

Jaelen Strong caught six passes for 56 yards in the season finale of his rookie campaign, but racked up eight receptions otherwise. Unfortunately for Strong, Will Fuller was drafted to be the No. 2 receiver. Making matters worse, Strong will have to battle Braxton Miller to be the No. 3 wideout.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 34 catches. 460 yards. 2 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 68.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 102.

  33. Stevie Johnson, WR, Chargers. Bye: 11.
AUG. 2 UPDATE: Stevie Johnson tore his meniscus and will undergo surgery. It could’ve been much worse for Johnson, who stands a chance to return by mid-season. Nevertheless, he should be off all fantasy radars.

AUG. 1 UPDATE: Stevie Johnson was carted off the practice field with a knee injury. Johnson couldn’t put any weight on his leg. It’s obviously looking grim, so stay tuned for updates.

Stevie Johnson was off to a good start last year before numerous injuries ruined his season. He has shown the ability to produce WR3-type numbers when healthy, but Travis Benjamin will eat into his targets.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 34 catches. 470 yards. 2 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 65.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 99.

  34. Jeff Janis, WR, Packers. Bye: 4.
AUG. 14 UPDATE: Jeff Janis fractured at least one bone in his hand during practice Wednesday, according to Rob Demovsky, ESPN. If so, Janis will be out quite a while. Janis was once one of my top sleepers, but he was considered undraftable even prior to this injury.

AUG. 6 UPDATE: Jeff Janis has had a disappointing training camp thus far, according to both Michael Cohen and Bob McGinn, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Janis had so much hype in the offseason, coming off his amazing playoff performance against the Cardinals, but he has struggled since. He still has time to turn things around, but he’s not draftable at the moment.

JULY 21 UPDATE: The Packers have downgraded Jeff Janis because of “straight-line athleticism, tendency to body catch and average ability to adjust,” according to Bob McGinn, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. So much for one of my top sleepers. Janis was dynamic in the team’s loss to Arizona in the playoffs, but it appears as though the coaching staff is less optimistic.

JUNE 21 UPDATE: Jeff Janis has been having his way with the first-team defensive backs at OTAs, according to Ryan Wood, USA Today. Janis appears to be a great sleeper candidate. He’s a steal at his current ADP (14.05), and he’ll be someone I’ll be targeting late in my drafts.

Jeff Janis did nothing during the regular season in 2015, but he had a huge performance in the divisional round of the playoffs. This prompted Mike McCarthy to say that Janis needs to play more. Janis should be able to take over as the No. 3 receiver in 2016, making him a potential sleeper.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 24 catches. 330 yards. 2 total TD.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 60.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 84.

  35. Louis Murphy, WR, Buccaneers. Bye: 6.
Louis Murphy played in only six games because of a torn ACL. He’ll probably be back as Tampa’s third receiver in 2016.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 37 catches. 480 yards. 2 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 60.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 97.

  36. Marqise Lee, WR, Jaguars. Bye: 8.
Marqise Lee hasn’t been able to stay healthy. However, even when he’s played, he typically hasn’t caught more than three passes in a game.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 28 catches. 400 yards. 2 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 57.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 85.

  37. Pharoh Cooper, WR, Rams. Bye: 8.
The Rams are starved for talent at receiver, so Pharoh Cooper might wrap up one of the starting spots and produce this year. I’ll definitely be monitoring how much he’s used with the first-string offense in the preseason.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 31 catches. 430 yards. 2 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 55.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 86.

  38. Philly Brown, WR, Panthers. Bye: 7.
Philly Brown had a huge performance in the NFC Championship, catching four passes for 113 yards. The problem is that with Kelvin Benjamin due back, Brown’s role in Carolina’s offense will decrease.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 30 catches. 420 yards. 2 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 54.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 84.

  39. Albert Wilson, WR, Chiefs. Bye: 5.
Some thought Albert Wilson would take the next step in 2015, but that ever happened. He caught only 35 passes for 461 yards. Wilson is hampered by mediocre quarterbacking, and 2015 third-rounder Chris Conley is inching closer to overtaking him.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 30 catches. 410 yards. 2 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 53.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 83.

  40. Victor Cruz, WR, Giants. Bye: 8.
JULY 31 UPDATE: Victor Cruz practiced for two consecutive days. This is a positive development for Cruz, who couldn’t get onto the practice field last year. However, players don’t come back from torn patellar tendons, so even if Cruz returns to the field, he definitely won’t be his former self.

JULY 24 UPDATE: While the Giants are optimistic about Victor Cruz, they should buy it at their own risk, according to Ralph Vacchiano, New York Daily News. We heard the same optimism last offseason. Players seldom come back from patellar tendons. Don’t count on him doing anything.

i> JUNE 21 UPDATE: Victor Cruz isn’t expected to be cleared by minicamp, according to Dan Graziano, ESPN. As I suggested last year, stay away from Cruz entirely. Players simply don’t return from torn patellar tendons.

I warned you not to draft Victor Cruz last year, and I’ll provide the same advice this summer. Players don’t come back from torn patellar tendons. Cruz will continue to have other leg issues stemming from that injury. He can’t be drafted in any format.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 23 catches. 280 yards. 1 total TD.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 44.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 67.

  41. Cody Latimer, WR, Broncos. Bye: 11.
Cody Latimer has been a huge bust thus far. A 2014 second-round pick, Latimer has just eight career receptions.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 17 catches. 240 yards. 1 total TD.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 40.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 57.

  42. Martavis Bryant, WR, Steelers. Bye: 8.
Suspended for the year for being stupid.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 0 catches. 0 yards. 0 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 0.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 0.

  43. Bruce Ellington, WR, 49ers. Bye: 8.
Bruce Ellington is out for the year with a torn hamstring. It’s a shame, as Ellington seemed like he could have a half-decent season despite the quarterbacking situation. I liked Ellington a bit as a late-round sleeper.

Projected 2016 Fantasy Stats: 0 catches. 0 yards. 0 total TDs.
    Projected 2016 Fantasy Points: 0.
Projected 2016 PPR Fantasy Points: 0.
