2008 Free Agency Page Notes: Star rating is out of five.
Age listing is as of Sept. 11, the first day of the 2008 regular season.
If I missed a signing or a free agent, please let me know. There are so many players on the market I may have missed someone.
Randy Moss, Patriots. Age: 31. Re-signed with Patriots (3 years, $27 million)
Yeah... I think this guy is somewhat talented, but I'm not sure. What do you think? The Patriots MUST re-sign Randy Moss; letting him go would be foolish. I don't think he's going anywhere though. Said Brady of Moss' free agency: "Wherever Moss goes, I go."
Bernard Berrian, Bears. Age: 27. Signed with Vikings (6 years, $42 million)
Bernard Berrian had 71 catches for 951 yards and five touchdowns last season. Not bad considering the crap Chicago had at the quarterback position. Berrian's an explosive receiver, but sometimes criticized for dropping too many balls.
D.J. Hackett, Seahawks. Age: 27. Signed with Panthers (2 years, $3.5 million)
I marked D.J. Hackett as a fantasy sleeper. Unfortunately, he only played four full games. In those contests, however, he had 384 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Not too shabby.
Bryant Johnson, Cardinals. Age: 27. Signed with 49ers (1 year)
Although he was chosen in the first round of 2003, Bryant Johnson never had more than 740 receiving yards. I know he was stuck behind Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin, but he didn't really do much when they were out.
Chris Henry, Bengals. Age: 25.
There's no question Chris Henry's talented, but I don't know how many teams are willing to put up with his antics. And I doubt Henry's future teammates want 10-year-old groupies hanging out near the locker room. I think the Broncos may look at Henry; Mike Shanahan often gives players a second chance and Denver really needs a wide out.
Donte' Stallworth, Patriots. Age: 27. Signed with Browns (7 years, $35 million)
The Patriots elected not to exercise the option of Donte Stallworth's contract, thus voiding it. Stallworth is unquestionably a talented receiver, but he's a bit lower on this list than he should be because he's so injury-prone. Caveat emptor.
Justin Gage, Titans. Age: 27. Re-signed with Titans (4 years, $14 million)
Justin Gage had three games of 90 or more yards to close the season, proving he can at least contribute in this league.
Greg Camarillo (ERFA), Dolphins. Age: 26. Tendered by Dolphins
Greg Camarillo really came on during the end of the year. Is he the next Wes Welker?
Isaac Bruce, Rams. Age: 35. Signed with 49ers (2 years)
I can't believe the Rams cut Isaac Bruce. Well, I can... it's just that I got so used to seeing Bruce in a Rams uniform. Bruce had about 750 yards last year, so he can still play. Joining up with Mike Martz in San Francisco is a possibility.
Javon Walker, Broncos. Age: 29. Signed with Raiders (6 years, $55 million)
A huge risk - Javon Walker is talented, but he's coming off a major knee injury. No one even wanted to offer a late-round pick for him.
Ernest Wilford, Jaguars. Age: 29. Signed with Dolphins (4 years, $13 million)
One of the many Jaguar receivers to go bust, Ernest Wilford's career highs include 45 receptions, 681 yards and seven touchdowns. Wouldn't be a bad third option on another team, but he's definitely not a No. 1 or 2.
This guy's like Robert Horry. He does nothing during the regular season, and somehow emerges in the playoffs. I don't know about you, but I'd like to have someone like that on my squad.
Muhsin Muhammad, Bears. Age: 35. Signed with Panthers (2 years)
Muhsin Muhammad is all but done; he had 40 catches for 520 yards last year, but with his 35th birthday coming up in May, I don't see him sticking around for too much longer.
Devard Darling, Ravens. Age: 26. Signed with Chiefs
Devard Darling had only 326 yards and three touchdowns last year, but most of that production came in Week 11 and beyond. Darling had 107 yards and a score against the Browns on Nov. 18.
A draft bust, Devery Henderson still has untapped athleticism that the Saints just weren't able to channel. Maybe he'll have more success elsewhere.
Marty Booker, Dolphins. Age: 32. Signed with Bears (2 years)
It doesn't get more bland than Marty Booker. He won't do anything great for anyone, but he'll be a dependable No. 3 wideout.
Darrell Jackson, 49ers. Age: 29. Signed with Broncos (1 year)
Darrell Jackson's production suffered in 2007 for a multitude of reasons, particularly tons of dropped balls and poor quarterback play. Jackson is a solid third option.
David Patten, Saints. Age: 34. Re-signed with Saints (2 years)
David Patten actually had a productive season with the Saints (54 receptions, 792 yards), but given that he's past the age of regression, I wouldn't sign him for anything more than the minimum.
Lance Moore, Saints (RFA). Age: 25.
Jerry Porter, Raiders. Age: 30. - Signed with Jaguars (6 years, $30 million - WTF?)
Andre Davis, Texans. Age: 29. - Re-signed with Texans
Jerome Mathis (RFA), Texans. Age: 25. - Signed with Redskins
Drew Carter, Panthers. Age: 27. - Signed with Raiders (1 year, $2 million)
Keary Colbert, Panthers. Age: 26. - Signed with Broncos (3 years, $7.2 million)
Nate Washington (RFA), Steelers. Age: 25. - Re-signed with Steelers (1 year, $1.417 million)
Ruvell Martin (ERFA), Packers. Age: 26. - Re-signed with Packers (1 year, $445,000)
Brandon Lloyd, Redskins. Age: 27. - Signed with Bears (1 year)
Koren Robinson, Packers. Age: 28.
Robert Ferguson, Vikings. Age: 28. - Re-signed with Vikings (1 year, $1 million)
