NHL Hockey Picks - November 2007 Note: Picks to be posted daily prior to 5:45 p.m. My NHL picking records are at the bottom of this page.
Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 (1-0, +$200)
Anaheim Ducks (12-14) at Edmonton Oilers (10-15) Line: Ducks -110; Oilers -110. The Ducks are hot, yet they have dropped from -118 to 107 in Pinnacle, despite the fact that 90 percent of the action is on them tonight. Edmonton has dominated Anaheim at home over the years, owning a 16-7 mark against them since 1996 (4-2 since 2005). Prediction: Oilers 4, Ducks 3 Oilers -110 (2 Units) -- Correct; +$200 Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 (1-0, +$100)
Anaheim Ducks (11-14) at Calgary Flames (10-15) Line: Ducks +110; Flames -130. There's a good amount of action on Calgary, yet the line has dipped a bit in Pinnacle from -125 to -120. Not that much line movement, but good enough to warrant a small play. Prediction: Ducks 2, Flames 0 Ducks +110 (1 Unit) -- Correct; +$100 Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007 (1-0, +$250)
St. Louis Blues (13-8) at Buffalo Sabres (11-11) Line: Blues +125; Sabres -145. I'm well aware the Sabres have made some noise by winning five in a row, but St. Louis has captured six of its previous seven contests. I've also spotted shady line movement here; there's about 65-percent action on Buffalo, yet the line dropped in Pinnacle from -165 to -133. Prediction: Blues 3, Sabres 2 Blues +125 (2 Units) -- Correct; +$250 Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007 (0-1, -$200)
Anaheim Mighty Ducks (11-13) at Vancouver Canucks (12-11) Line: Ducks +115; Canucks -135. There are only three games tonight, so I couldn't find any fishy line movement. However, this is another reliable phenomenon where there is natural line movement. There's about 70 percent action on the Ducks, and the Pinnacle line dropped from Canucks -140 to -128. Prediction: Ducks 3, Canucks 1 Ducks +115 (2 Units) -- Incorrect; -$200 Monday, Nov. 26, 2007 (1-0, +$140)
Boston Bruins (11-10) at Philadelphia Flyers (13-9) Line: Bruins +140; Flyers -160. With about 80 percent of the money on the Flyers, the line has dipped in Pinnacle from -180 to -159. A pretty big dropoff. Boston is actually pretty hot, having won four of its previous six. Prediction: Bruins 5, Flyers 3 Bruins +140 (1 Unit) -- Correct; +$140 Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 (1-0, +$240)
New Jersey Devils (10-12) at Tampa Bay Lightning (10-12) Line: Devils +120; Lightning -140. There's about 75 percent on the Lightning, yet the line has dropped in Pinnacle from -145 to -132. Makes you think. And yes, I simply copy-pasted that from yesterday's write-up. I'm lazy. Prediction: Devils 3, Lightning 2 Devils +120 (2 Units) -- Correct; +$240 Friday, Nov. 23, 2007 (1-0, +$220)
New Jersey Devils (9-12) at Atlanta Thrashers (11-10) Line: Devils +110; Thrashers -120. There's about 90 percent on the Thrashers, yet the line has dropped in Pinnacle from -128 to -121. Makes you think. Prediction: Devils 2, Thrashers 1 Devils +110 (2 Units) -- Correct; +$220 Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007 (1-0, +$100)
Detroit Red Wings (15-6) at Nashville Predators (10-10) Line: Red Wings -125; Predators +105. With 73 percent of the money on the Red Wings, the money line in Pinnacle went down from -145 to -119. Prediction: Predators 2, Red Wings 1 Predators +105 (1 Unit) -- Correct; +$100 Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007 (1-0, +$250)
New Jersey Devils (8-12) at Pittsburgh Penguins (8-12) Line: Devils +125; Penguins -145. There's tons of action on the Penguins, so the line's moving up, right? Nope - Pittsburgh opened up -150 at Pinnacle. Now, the money line is -133. Something fishy is going on here. Prediction: Devils 3, Penguins 2 Devils +125 (2 Units) -- Correct; +$250 Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007 (0-1, -$280)
Vancouver Canucks (10-9) at Edmonton Oilers (7-13) Line: Canucks -140; Oilers +120. The Canucks look like a solid play tonight. There's about 70 percent on that side, and the line has increased from -125 to -138 on Pinnacle. Prediction: Canucks 3, Oilers 0 Canucks -140 (2 Units) -- Incorrect; -$280 Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 (1-0, +$200)
Los Angeles Kings (8-11) at Dallas Stars (8-11) Line: Kings +150; Stars -170. The Stars opened up at -160 and shot up to -171 because of the 78-percent action on them. I like the line movement. Prediction: Stars 4, Kings 1 Stars -170 (2 Units) -- Correct; +$200 Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007 (0-1, -$200)
Florida Panthers (8-12) at Carolina Hurricanes (11-9) Line: Panhers +155; Hurricanes -175. Odd line movement; despite 75-percent action on Carolina, the price on the Hurricanes dropped from -210 to -173 in Pinnacle. Looks like the smart money's on Florida. Prediction: Panthers 4, Hurricanes 3 Panthers +150 (2 Units) -- Incorrect; -$200 Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 (1-0, +$315)
Montreal Canadiens (10-7) at Buffalo Sabres (6-11) Line: Canadiens -125; Sabres +105. Dumb move yesterday, as I took the Coyotes because of the line movement, which changed in the late afternoon. Well, the Sabres seem like the right side tonight; Montreal opened as a -115 favorite on Pinnacle. The line moved down to -103, despite the 74-percent action on the host. Prediction: Sabres 4, Canadiens 2 Sabres +105 (3 Units) -- Correct; +$315 Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 (0-1, -$300)
San Jose Sharks (10-9) at Phoenix Coyotes (7-9) Line: Sharks -120; Coyotes +100. Forget that stupid PPV system that worked and then didn't. I'm going back to old-fashioned handicapping. This line opened up Sharks -130 at Pinnacle Sports, and has since dropped to -109. The thing is, about 80 percent of the dough is on San Jose. So, why the awkward line movement? Prediction: Coyotes 4, Sharks 3 Coyotes +100 (3 Units) -- Incorrect; -$300 Note: This is for entertainment purposes only.
