A bunch of hyped players have fallen to the second round or are still on the board here. Tabor is a better player than most of them in my opinion, but his triangle numbers are just not palatable for most teams. He is physical enough that I think the Eagles could see him as an eventual replacement to Malcolm Jenkins. They have a huge need at CB, but with the quality of their safeties I think they can take a chance on a player like Tabor and have Jenkins mentor him, which he is more than willing to do as on of the great locker room leaders in the NFL.
** Previous Pick ** DT Eddie Vanderdoes, CB Kevin King
Marcus Maye has been steadily rising up draft boards. He has tested much better than expected, and teams evaluate safeties much differently than an outsider can based just on tape. Teams seem to think Maye can play both safety spots, and his intangibles will help that entire unit.
** Previous Pick ** OLB Charles Harris, CB Jalen Tabor, CB Marlon Humphries
There are a few teams still interested in drafting Tabor at the end of the 1st round, Dallas is one of them, but they luck out and get him in the 2nd round. The secondary has been gutted this off-season. Right now, Orlando Scandrick is their only starting CB returning to the team from last season, and Safety is a mess as well - probably bigger - and the team has moved QB Jameill Showers to SS. This is for depth. Let me repeat that, the Cowboys have moved their 4th string QB to SS for depth. Ouch.
Tabor's tape sells itself and I think that's what Jerry Jones will go by on draft day. He seems to have interviewed well with the team, and they feel that he can step in at LCB right away. He's going to have some tough assignments but he gets to practice with one of the best in the game.
