2015 NFL Playoff Predictions – Wildcard Round

6. Minnesota Vikings (10-6) at 3. Dallas Cowboys (11-5)
It seems like the Cowboys get screwed over in the playoffs every year. From Tony Romo’s botched hold, to Dez Bryant’s non-catch that should’ve been a reception, something always goes wrong. Perhaps this will be the year that Dallas gets over the hump and makes a push toward the Super Bowl. Or maybe something else will go awry…

Vikings 24, Cowboys 23

5. New York Giants (10-6) at 4. Carolina Panthers (9-7)
Cam Newton has one playoff victory, but does it even count? He beat Ryan Lindley, and he wasn’t even very effective in that contest. The Giants have historically played better on the road, so they have a good chance to pull the upset, just like Minnesota.

Giants 26, Panthers 17

6. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-6) at 3. Denver Broncos (10-6)
The Steelers visit the Broncos in the playoffs again, but this time, there’s no Tim Tebow to save Denver. Peyton Manning is the quarterback instead, and he showed major signs of regression last year. If that continues, Manning won’t get very far in the postseason. And besides, would it surprise anyone if he suffered yet another premature playoff defeat?

Steelers 23, Broncos 16

5. Miami Dolphins (10-6) at 4. New England Patriots (10-6)
The rubber match between the upstart Dolphins and defending champion Patriots will take place in New England because of strength of victory (I checked). This ordinarily wouldn’t be a big deal in September or October, but this is a January contest. Miami has a miserable history of playing in Foxboro when it’s freezing outside, meaning they’ll struggle in this matchup.

Patriots 27, Dolphins 3

2015 NFL Playoff Predictions – Divisional Round

6. Minnesota Vikings (10-6) at 1. Green Bay Packers (13-3)
The Vikings are a good bet to make the playoffs as an upstart team this year, but I wouldn’t expect them to go very far in Teddy Bridgewater’s initial venture into the postseason. Perhaps they’ll make Super Bowl trip in 2016 and beyond, but it’s difficult to see them getting to the Big Game by having to go through Lambeau Field.

Packers 34, Vikings 24

5. New York Giants (10-6) at 2. Seattle Seahawks (12-4)
The Giants are road warriors, while the Seahawks are nearly unbeatable at home. Something has to give, and that something is the talent disparity between these teams. Seattle is just better, so I expect the team to make yet another trip to the NFC Championship.

Seahawks 23, Giants 20

6. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-6) at 1. Indianapolis Colts (13-3)
The Steelers upset the Colts this past season, but that game was in Pittsburgh. This will be a different story, as the Colts have been dominant as hosts in the Andrew Luck era. Luck has taken a step further in the playoffs each year, so I don’t expect him to get tripped up in the second round with a better supporting cast.

Colts 30, Steelers 23

4. New England Patriots (10-6) at 2. Baltimore Ravens (12-4)
Deflategate Revenge! The Ravens and Patriots always seem to meet in the playoffs, but the game is always in Foxboro. That’s not the case on this occasion, as Baltimore finally gets to use its great homefield advantage against one of its biggest rivals. You can bet that the officials will be checking the PSIs of the footballs this time in a game that could get ugly.

Ravens 38, Patriots 24

2015 NFL Playoff Predictions – Championship Sunday

2. Seattle Seahawks (12-4) at 1. Green Bay Packers (13-3)
The Seahawks aren’t as good on the road, and the Packers are normally dominant at Lambeau Field, but I have Seattle winning this contest. Green Bay has had major trouble dealing with mobile quarterbacks over the past several seasons, and it doesn’t appear as though the team has done enough to change that. Russell Wilson could once again run circles around the Packer stop unit in another thrilling fourth-quarter comeback.

Seahawks 24, Packers 23

2. Baltimore Ravens (12-4) at 1. Indianapolis Colts (13-3)
Unlike the Packers, the Colts will be able to take care of homefield advantage in the Conference Championship. Indianapolis is a much different team at home, and once again, Andrew Luck has gone one step further in the playoffs each year. I was tempted to have the Ravens reach the Super Bowl again, but this seems like the Colts’ time to get there.

Colts 27, Ravens 24

2015 NFL Playoff Predictions – Super Bowl L at San Francisco

Seattle Seahawks (12-4) vs. Indianapolis Colts (13-3)
Will Andrew Luck begin compiling Super Bowl victories with this game, or will the Seahawks take the Lombardi Trophy for the third-consecutive year? Oh, wait, my bad. I forgot that the coaching staff was guilty of calling one of the dumbest plays in NFL history at the end of the New England contest. I sometimes even forget that Seattle lost that game.

I like the Seahawks to learn from their mistakes and triumph in this contest. They have the better team overall, and besides, Luck winning the Big Game this year would be taking two steps forward instead of his usual one step. Perhaps I’ll have him winning it all next season…

Seahawks 30, Colts 27
