*** 2015 NFL Mock Draft (3 rounds) updated Nov. 12. This NFL Mock Draft will be updated at least once per week (Tuesday afternoons and other times for important events.). Check out old versions of this 2015 NFL Mock Draft in the archived mock draft section. Follow @walterfootball for NFL Draft updates. ***

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
TRADE! OK, a little too early to project trades, especially given that the draft order isn’t even close to being set yet, but if the Raiders are picking No. 1, as they were in this update, one of two things will happen: They’ll either fall in love with Marcus Mariota and pick him, much like the Panthers did with Cam Newton after spending a second-rounder on Jimmy Clausen; or they’ll auction off the top selection to the highest bidder. I’m projecting a trade here for the Raiders based on how Derek Carr has performed lately. Unless he bombs in the second half of the season – his showing versus Denver was not promising – Oakland will roll with him again in 2015.

There will be plenty of interest from teams looking to land Mariota, and the Buccaneers might be most desperate after what has transpired in recent weeks. Tampa has to find a franchise quarterback to be competitive in the NFC South. I also considered the Jets as the team to move up. I may have that happening in my next update. I said that last week, but the Buccaneers are more likely to take the risk if the Jets have a new general manager.

To move up to No. 1, the Buccaneers dealt the third-overall pick, their second-round selection and their 2016 first-rounder.

    Follow @walterfootball for updates.

  2. Jacksonville Jaguars: Leonard Williams, DE/DT, USC
If the Jaguars secure the top pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, they will trade it to the highest bidder. There are plenty of teams – Buccaneers, Jets, Rams, Texans, Titans, Raiders (if Derek Carr struggles), Browns (if they want to give up on Johnny Manziel and his antics) – that will be desperate to land Marcus Mariota. Jacksonville will deal the selection to the highest bidder.

It’s all moot because Jacksonville is picking second in this scenario, so I’m going to slot the top non-quarterback talent to them anyway. The Jaguars’ defensive line was projected to be a strength this year, but Sen’Derrick Marks has been the only consistent pass-rusher. The group isn’t nearly the team’s biggest weakness, but a better pass rush will mask issues in the back seven.

  3. Oakland Raiders: Randy Gregory, DE/OLB, Nebraska
I’ve mocked a left tackle here previously, but the Raiders would probably go with one of the elite pass-rushers in this scenario. Excluding Justin Tuck and Khalil Mack, no Oakland defender gets to the quarterback consistently. An upgrade is desperately needed across from Tuck, and Randy Gregory happens to be the top player available. He has the potential to go No. 1 if teams don’t rate Marcus Mariota very highly.

  4. New York Jets: Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State
There is so much controversy surrounding Jameis Winston, from the alleged sexual assault, to the crab legs, to the autographs, to his suspension for shouting a stupid meme in the student union (funny that the old farts running Florida State didn’t know what it meant). However, Winston is too talented not to go high in the first round.

Winston is also too good for the Jets to pass up. I’d be worried about him in New York, but the team is in desperate need of a franchise quarterback, as it’s clear that Geno Smith is not the answer.

  5. Tennessee Titans: Shane Ray, DE/OLB, Missouri
The Titans have to find tons of defensive help. One major need in particular is a pass-rushing upgrade because Kamerion Wimbley is not getting the job done. They’d love to land Shane Ray, who is the No. 2 edge rusher in this class. He has been unstoppable this year and has risen in this mock draft as a consequence.

Pick change; previously Amari Cooper, WR

  6. Atlanta Falcons: Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia
I’d have to believe that the Falcons would prefer to land one of the top pass-rushers, but they’re all gone. Todd Gurley wouldn’t be a bad consolation prize. The Falcons don’t have much in their backfield, and Gurley would be the player the front office has been looking for to complement Matt Ryan since Michael Turner wore down.

For those who don’t believe three or four running backs will be chosen in the first round next spring, this class has stud players at the position, so it’s going to happen. Besides, Trent Richardson was chosen No. 3 overall a couple of years ago. If Richardson can go third, the more-talented Gurley can be chosen in the top 10.

Pick change; previously Shane Ray, DE/OLB

  7. Washington Redskins: Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford
Jason Whitlock said the Redskins were trying to focus on obtaining Jameis Winston with this pick when he ruined a recent episode of PTI. It’s more likely that they’ll either upgrade their secondary or find some protection for Robert Griffin. They haven’t been able to protect very well, and it’s disconcerting that third-round rookie Morgan Moses hasn’t been able to find his way into the starting lineup despite the team’s issues at right tackle.

  8. Chicago Bears: Landon Collins, S, Alabama
What the Bears need most is for their quarterback to care, but they can’t find a solution for that in the 2015 NFL Draft. Instead, they can fix their ailing secondary that stood no chance against Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers. Chicago’s issues at the safety position have been well-documented, so I doubt the front office would hesitate to pounce on the consensus No. 1 player at the position in this class.

  9. New York Giants: Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama
This may seem like a strange pick, given that the Giants just spent the 12th-overall selection on Odell Beckham, but a couple of things: First, Amari Cooper is the best player available, by far, as he is on the same level as A.J. Green and Julio Jones. Second, Cooper, Beckham and Victor Cruz would all be able to play together, as Cruz could man the slot, with Cooper and Beckham on the outside. That would be a ridiculous receiving corps, and I doubt that Eli Manning would complain about this choice.

Pick change; previously Todd Gurley, RB

  10. St. Louis Rams: P.J. Williams, CB, Florida State
The Rams are another team that is missing out on a quarterback, but like the Titans, they can go with the top player on their board. That could be P.J. Williams, who would fill a need in the secondary.

Pick change; previously Marcus Peters, CB

  11. Carolina Panthers: Brandon Scherff, OT/G, Iowa
Most people focus on Carolina’s receiving corps, but the team’s offensive line can’t block whatsoever for Cam Newton, who’s had no chance in recent games. He was sacked a whopping nine times against the Eagles! That absolutely must change for the Panthers to be a playoff contender again.

  12. Houston Texans: Shaq Thompson, LB, Washington
The Texans need some help in the middle of their defense, as the disappointing Brian Cushing won’t be around much longer. Shaq Thompson has been great this season, so he could perhaps provide an upgrade on the interior that Houston sorely needs.

Pick change; previously La’El Collins, OT/G

  13. Minnesota Vikings: Dante Fowler, DE, Florida
The top players on the board don’t match Minnesota’s needs, so I’m giving them the best prospect available who makes sense for them. Brian Robison will turn 32 right after the 2015 NFL Draft, so a successor will be needed.

  14. Miami Dolphins: La’El Collins, OT/G, LSU
The Dolphins’ offensive line just took a big hit with Branden Albert being lost for the year. The guards hadn’t been performing well, so the front is now a liability. Here’s a player to help improve the interior.

Pick change; previously P.J. Williams, CB

  15. San Diego Chargers: Leonard Floyd, DE/OLB, Georgia
The Chargers have Jeremiah Attaochu waiting in the wings, but with Dwight Freeney heading for retirement soon, they may want to add another pass-rusher.

  16. Cleveland Browns: Kevin White, WR, West Virginia
The Browns almost have to draft a receiver with one of their two first-round picks, don’t they? Having Miles Austin start for a second year just can’t happen.

Pick change; previously Sammie Coates, WR
