*** 2019 NFL MOCK DRAFT (3 rounds) updated Oct. 18. This mock draft will be updated occasionally. Check out old versions of this 2019 NFL Mock Draft in the archived mock section. Follow @walterfootball for NFL Draft updates. ***

  1. New York Giants: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
Giants ownership pushed for a quarterback prior to the 2018 NFL Draft, but general manager David Gettleman opted for Saquon Barkley instead. After what has transpired this year, I can’t imagine Gettleman going against ownership’s wishes again.

Justin Herbert played in just eight games last year, but has some major potential. He was accurate, completing 67 percent of his passes, and he also has nice size at 6-6, 225. He had a monster game versus Stanford and appears to now be the consensus top quarterback in this class.

  2. Indianapolis Colts: Nick Bosa, DE, Ohio State
The Colts, once again, should target the best player available. This time, they can focus on their defensive front, which I believe they would have done had Bradley Chubb been available.

Given that Indianapolis may have wanted Chubb, it’s reasonable to expect the team to select the most dynamic edge rusher in this class, Nick Bosa, who just declared for the 2019 NFL Draft.

Nick Bosa has a tremendous skill set, and he was off to a great start in 2018 before injuring his knee. He should still be a top-five pick.

Pick change; previously Ed Oliver, DT

  3. San Francisco 49ers: Quinnen Williams, DT, Alabama
The 49ers will want to trade down, as they have bigger needs than defensive linemen, but with no other blue-chip franchise quarterbacks outside of Justin Herbert in the 2019 NFL Draft, it’ll be difficult for them to make a deal.

San Francisco will have to “settle” for one of these generational defensive tackles to take the best player available. Besides, it’s not like the 49ers couldn’t use a better defensive interior force next to DeForest Buckner.

Quinnen Williams had a breakout performance this season, and sources Charlie Campbell spoke to believe he’ll be a high first-round pick.

Pick change; previously Nick Bosa, DE

  4. Arizona Cardinals: Ed Oliver, DT, Houston
The Cardinals failed to secure a replacement for Calais Campbell yet again this past offseason, but I have to believe that general manager Steve Keim is well aware of how loaded the 2019 NFL Draft class is of defensive linemen. As bad as Arizona needs blockers for Josh Rosen, it won’t be able to pass up on one of the four stud defensive tackles.

Ed Oliver was a highly productive defensive lineman for Houston, recording a ridiculous 22.5 TFLs as a freshman. He’s been a monster this season and currently projects to be a top-five pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Pick change; previously Derrick Brown, DT

  5. Oakland Raiders: Clelin Ferrell, DE, Clemson
The Raiders traded Khalil Mack because they couldn’t afford to pay both him and Derek Carr obscene contracts, and that’ll be fine if they can replace Mack with one of the stellar edge rushers in the upcoming draft class.

Clelin Ferrell has elite athleticism, and he could’ve been a top-15, or even a top-10 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft had he declared (perhaps No. 6 overall to the Colts.)

  6. Atlanta Falcons: Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
The Falcons were expected to address their defensive line during the draft, but the spend too much energy doing it. They’ll need to make amends for that next spring.

Derrick Brown has great size (6-5, 316) and tons of upside. He can be a great interior disruptor if he lives up to his potential.

Pick change; previously Quinnen Williams, DT

  7. Denver Broncos: Jeffery Simmons, DT, Mississippi State
The Broncos could address their defensive front seven again if they get this sort of value, especially after surrendering 300 rushing yards to the Jets. Derek Wolfe’s health is always a concern, while Adam Gotsis has off-the-field concerns.

Jeffrey Simmons is an extremely disruptive interior force, but was found guilty of simple assault charges. He should be a top-five pick if teams are fine with his off-the-field issues, as he has an amazing blend of power and athleticism.

Pick change; previously Raekwon Davis, DE/DT

  8. Buffalo Bills: Greg Little, OT, Ole Miss
The Bills absolutely need to improve Josh Allen’s protection and receiving talent. It could be argued that Buffalo has the worst offensive line in the NFL.

Greg “Mr. Reliable” Little was a five-star recruit coming out of high school. He’s an athletic left tackle who could become a top-10 pick.

  9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: DeAndre Baker, CB, Georgia
The Buccaneers have glaring problems at cornerback. Brent Grimes won’t be around much longer, while former first-rounder Vernon Hargreaves has been an injury-prone bust.

DeAndre Baker had a terrific 2017 campaign, showing great athleticism. He’s been great this season as well, especially against LSU.

Pick change; previously Amani Orunwariye, CB

  10. Detroit Lions: Rashan Gary, DE/DT, Michigan
The Lions’ defense has looked poor in four of five games this year, as it allowed Dallas to score more than 20 points for the first time all year. The defense was expected to be atrocious, and that has certainly been the case. Help is needed at every level, and I have to imagine that Detroit will be eager to pick up one of the stud defensive tackles in this class to finally replace Ndamukong Suh.

Rashan Gary is an athletic freak. He wasn’t extremely productive as a freshman, but he recorded five sacks and 11 tackles for loss in 2017. His teammates believe he’ll be a top-10 pick.

  11. Cleveland Browns: Raekwon Davis, DE/DT, Alabama
The Browns have a strong defensive line, but they could use an interior player who can generate a heavy pass rush. This would take their defensive front over the top.

Raekwon Davis had a dominant performance in the national championship to cap off his excellent 2017 season in which he logged 8.5 sacks.

Pick change; previously Dexter Lawrence, DT

  12. Houston Texans: Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama
The Texans must improve two areas of their roster: the offensive line and their cornerback group. The former is an obvious issue, but the latter is also a glaring problem, as they’ve really struggled against the pass this season.

Trevon Diggs, younger brother of Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs, began as a receiver at Alabama, but was tremendous this season at cornerback before suffering a foot injury.

  13. Dallas Cowboys: A.J. Brown, WR, Ole Miss
If a receiver is one of the top prospects available, the Cowboys must absolutely use that pick on him. There’s no question about it. Dak Prescott’s top target right now besides Cole Beasley is Deonte Thompson, which is just sad.

A.J. Brown has a tremendous athleticism, and he was a great weapon for Ole Miss last year.

  14. Jacksonville Jaguars: Drew Lock, QB, Missouri
Blake Bortles is back to sucking after playing a great game against the Patriots. It’s a shame for the Jaguars, who would be the Super Bowl favorite if they just had a top-20 quarterback at the helm. Bortles seldom plays that well.

Drew Lock has a great arm and can make any throw, but he really needs to work on his field vision and accuracy. He should probably be taken in the second round, but we’ve seen teams reach for quarterbacks over the years.

  15. Philadelphia Eagles: Greedy Williams, CB, LSU
The Eagles desperately need to improve their secondary, as they’ve surrendered big passing performances to nearly every quarterback they’ve played thus far in 2018.

Greedy Williams had a spectacular freshman season with six interceptions. Williams has great size (6-2, 182) and quickness, and he has top-10 upside.

Pick change; previously Jeffery Simmons, DT

  16. Seattle Seahawks: Deionte Thompson, S, Alabama
Earl Thomas has likely played his final down in Seattle, and Kam Chancellor retired last offseason, so the Seahawks have to find some new members for Legion of Boom 2.0.

Deionte Thompson has a great blend of size (6-2, 196), speed and athleticism. He’s been very productive replacing Minkah Fitzpatrick.
