  1. T.J. Edwards, LB, Eagles. Age: 27.
    Signed with Bears (3 years)

T.J. Edwards’ transformation in recent years has been remarkable. Two seasons ago, he was seen as a big liability. He had a solid 2021 campaign, however, and then was viewed as just a capable starter. However, Edwards became one of the best linebackers in the NFL last year. He was stellar in both run support and coverage. Edwards is still in his mid-20s, so it’ll be interesting to see if he continues to improve his game.

  2. Anthony Walker, LB, Browns. Age: 28.
    Re-signed with Browns (1 year)

Want to know why Cleveland’s defense was so bad last year? Anthony Walker suffered a season-ending injury in Week 3. He was sorely missed as a terrific coverage linebacker.

  3. Germaine Pratt, LB, Bengals. Age: 27.
    Re-signed with Bengals (3 years, $21 million)

Germaine Pratt had a rocky start to his career as a third-round pick, but he has developed into an excellent linebacker who particularly thrives in coverage.

  4. Lavonte David, LB, Buccaneers. Age: 33.
    Re-signed with Buccaneers (1 year, $7 million)

Lavonte David is now 33, yet he continues to perform as one of the better linebackers in the NFL. That will change sometime soon, however.

  5. Bobby Wagner, LB, Rams. Age: 33.
    Signed with Seahawks (1 year)

Bobby Wagner was a declining player in his final days in Seattle, but he revived his career with the Rams last year. He was cut to save some money, but he should still be able to perform on a high level for another season or two.

  6. David Long, LB, Titans. Age: 26.
    Signed with Dolphins

David Long is undersized, but he has done well to make something of himself after being a sixth-round pick. He’s coming off a tremendous season that ended in Week 13.

  7. Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Bills. Age: 25.
Signed with Bears (4 years, $72 million; $50 million guaranteed)

Heading into 2022, Tremaine Edmunds was seen as a first-round bust who never lived up to his great potential. Edmunds had a great year, especially in coverage. It remains to be seen if Edmunds can keep up this high level of play.

  8. Eric Kendricks, LB, Vikings. Age: 31.
    Signed with Chargers

Eric Kendricks was once one of the better linebackers in the NFL, but he looked terribly lost in coverage last year. He still played very well against the run, however.

  9. Leighton Vander Esch, LB, Cowboys. Age: 26.
    Re-signed with Cowboys

One NFL team removed Leighton Vander Esch from its draft board ahead of the 2018 NFL Draft because of concerns with his neck. We see why now, as Vander Esch struggles to stay healthy. It’s a shame because he’s a fantastic player.

  10. Drue Tranquill, LB, Chargers. Age: 28.
    Signed with Chiefs (1 year)

Drue Tranquill has evolved into a quality linebacker. He’s great in coverage, but tends to get beat up in run support.

  11. Jaylon Smith, LB, Giants. Age: 29.
Jaylon Smith was a nice addition to the Giants in October. Linebacker was a big position of weakness, and Smith turned out to be a well-rounded player for New York.

  12. Devin Bush, LB, Steelers. Age: 25.
    Signed with Seahawks (1 year)

Devin Bush has been a disappointment as the former No. 10 overall pick. He hasn’t been terrible, and he still has some potential, but he hasn’t lived up to his draft billing yet.

  13. Cole Holcomb, LB, Redskins. Age: 27.
    Signed with Steelers (3 years)

Cole Holcomb is a solid, three-down linebacker who was missed when he was lost with a season-ending foot injury in the middle of the 2022 season.

  14. Bobby Okereke, LB, Colts. Age: 27.
Signed with Giants (4 years, $40 million)

Bobby Okereke is coming off his best season, thriving most when it came to defending the run.

  15. Denzel Perryman, LB, Raiders. Age: 30.
    Signed with Texans

Denzel Perryman isn’t very good in coverage, but he’s terrific when it comes to playing in run support. The Raiders were always much worse versus the run when he was out of the lineup.

  16. Alex Anzalone, LB, Lions. Age: 28.
    Re-signed with Lions (3 years)

Alex Anzalone is a well-rounded linebacker with no strengths, but no weaknesses either.

  17. Cody Barton, LB, Seahawks. Age: 26.
    Signed with Redskins (1 year)

Cody Barton should only be a two-down player because he’s decent versus the run, but struggles in coverage.

  18. Kyzir White, LB, Eagles. Age: 27.
Signed with Cardinals (2 years, $11 million)

Kyzir White is a quality, Jack-of-all-trades linebacker with no weaknesses.

  19. Alex Singleton, LB, Broncos. Age: 29.
    Re-signed with Broncos (3 years, $18 million)

Alex Singleton fared well as Denver’s new linebacker last year, particularly when defending the run.

  20. Jayon Brown, LB, Raiders. Age: 28.
Jayon Brown had some great seasons earlier in his career, but has gotten worse for some reason in recent years.

  21. Zach Cunningham, LB, Titans. Age: 28.
    Signed with Eagles

Zach Cunningham was a solid player prior to 2022, but he’s coming off an injury-ravaged season.

  22. Robert Spillane, LB, Steelers. Age: 27.
Signed with the Raiders (2 years, $9 million)

Robert Spillane is a solid two-down linebacker who excels in run support. He’s a liability in coverage, however.

  23. Elandon Roberts, LB, Dolphins. Age: 29.
    Signed with Steelers (2 years)

Elandon Roberts is a solid run defender and an excellent blitzer, but he really struggles in coverage.

  24. Azeez Al-Shaair, LB, 49ers. Age: 26. — Signed with Titans
  25. Myles Jack, LB, Steelers. Age: 27. — Signed with Eagles
  26. Deion Jones, LB, Browns. Age: 28.
  27. Rashaan Evans, LB, Falcons. Age: 26.
  28. Kwon Alexander, LB, Jets. Age: 29. — Signed with Steelers
  29. Cory Littleton, LB, Panthers. Age: 29. — Signed with Texans (1 year)
  30. Damien Wilson, LB, Panthers. Age: 30.
  31. Nicholas Morrow, LB, Bears. Age: 28. — Signed with Eagles
  32. Jon Bostic, LB, Redskins. Age: 32.
  33. Ben Niemann, LB, Cardinals. Age: 28. — Signed with Titans
  34. Tanner Vallejo, LB, Cardinals. Age: 28.
  35. Blake Cashman, LB, Texans. Age: 27.
  36. Mack Wilson, LB, Patriots. Age: 25. — Re-signed with Patriots (2 years)
  37. A.J. Klein, LB, Bills. Age: 32. — Re-signed with Bills
  38. Neville Hewitt, LB, Texans. Age: 30. — Re-signed with Texans
  39. Kamu Grugier-Hill, LB, Cardinals. Age: 29. — Signed with Panthers
  40. Kevin Pierre-Louis, LB, Texans. Age: 31.
  41. Micah Kiser, LB, Raiders. Age: 28.
  42. Nick Vigil, LB, Cardinals. Age: 30.
  43. Joel Iyiegbuniwe, LB, Panthers. Age: 27.
  44. Chris Board, LB, Lions. Age: 28. — Signed with Patriots (2 years)
  45. Harvey Langi, LB, Raiders. Age: 30.
  46. Troy Reeder, LB, Chargers. Age: 28. — Signed with Vikings
  47. Dakota Allen, LB, Broncos. Age: 27.
