Pro Day Dates: March 12, 2010

TCU

Jerry Hughes, DE/OLB, TCU Scouting Report
Height: 6-2. Weight: 254.
Projected 40 Time: 4.64.
Combine 40 Time: 4.59.
Benchx225: 26. Vertical: .
Projected Round (2010): 1-2.

3/12/10: Didn’t run at his Pro Day; only worked out, and looked great doing so.

3/2/10: Jerry Hughes ran a solid 4.59 at the Combine and looked like a natural 3-4 rush linebacker in all of the drills. He’ll probably be drafted in Round 2, but he looks like a winner.

1/22/10: Jerry Hughes finished the season with 16.5 TFL and 11.5 sacks. Click the link above for a glowing scouting report on Hughes.

11/14/09: Jerry Hughes is once again having a huge year (10.5 TFL, 9 sacks). He has a great shot of being the first rush linebacker taken in the 2010 NFL Draft.

5/18/09: Jerry Hughes had a monstrous 2008 campaign for TCU, notching 19.5 TFL and 15 sacks.

Marshall Newhouse, G, TCU
Height: 6-4. Weight: 322.
Projected 40 Time: 5.09.
Combine 40 Time: 5.00.
Benchx225: 25. Arm: 34.
Projected Round (2010): 3-4.

3/12/10: Didn’t run at his Pro Day, but weighed in three pounds heavier. This may only fool Al Davis further into thinking that such a massive man can run a quick 40.

2/28/10: I’ve had the Raiders taking Marshall Newhouse in the third round of my 2010 NFL Mock Draft for a reason – Newhouse ran a 5.00 today at 6-4, 319.

2/27/10: Al Davis will likely think Marshall Newhouse is a great player.

1/17/10: Marshall Newhouse, an All-Mountain West First Team member, performed well at the East-West Shrine game and will be attending the Combine.

Rafael Priest, CB, TCU
Height: 5-10. Weight: 183.

Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
Benchx225: . Vertical: 28.
Projected Round (2010): 5-6.

3/12/10: Couldn’t run at his Pro Day because of a foot injury.

1/9/10: You know a corner is good when he plays 11 games, has six pass deflections, yet has managed only 18 tackles. Opposing quarterbacks avoid throwing at Rafael Priest, an All-Mountain West first-teamer. Priest missed the national championship because of a foot sprain.

Daryl Washington, OLB, TCU Scouting Report
Height: 6-2. Weight: 229.
Projected 40 Time: 4.59.
Combine 40 Time: 4.57.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.54.
Benchx225: 17. Vertical: .
Projected Round (2010): 2.

3/2/10: Daryl Washington looked good at the Combine, running a 4.57 in the 40. He told Charles Davis that he would prefer to play weakside linebacker in the NFL.

1/31/10: Daryl Washington had a very solid Senior Bowl. He wrapped up Tim Tebow on a key third-down stop, forcing the South into a field goal.

1/8/10: Daryl Washington had a great senior season for a TCU team that lost in the national championship to Boise State. Washington had 99 tackles and 7.5 TFL.

5/21/09: Daryl Washington fits into a 4-3, so look for Josh McDaniels to draft him into his 3-4. Washington had 63 tackles, 5.5 TFL and three sacks in 2008.

Height: 6-0. Weight: 242.
Projected 40 Time: 4.75.
Combine 40 Time: 4.64.
Benchx225: 18. Vertical: .
Projected Round (2010): 4-5.

1/8/10: Was healthy for his senior season; compiled 83 tackles and an impressive 10.5 TFL.

2/19/09: Hampered by an ankle injury all year, Phillip Dillard managed 38 tackles, 1.5 TFL and half a sack in nine games.

10/10/09: Garrett Graham has 23 receptions for 268 yards and four touchdowns through five games for undefeated Wisconsin.

1/5/09: Despite missing two games, Garrett Graham finished with 40 receptions, 540 yards and five touchdowns. He’s unlikely to declare early.

10/26/08: Garrett Graham is actually outgaining Travis Beckum this year; he has 24 catches, 330 yards and three touchdowns despite the fact that he missed some action with a foot injury.

5/23/08: Garrett Graham fared well as Wisconsin’s No. 2 tight end, compiling 30 receptions, 328 yards and four touchdowns. Something needs to be done with his 40.

Chris Maragos, FS, Wisconsin
Height: 5-11. Weight: 200.
Projected 40 Time: 4.55.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.47.
Benchx225: 15. Vertical: 36.
Projected Round (2010): 6-7.

3/12/10: Chris Maragos put on an amazing display at his Pro Day that had scouts buzzing. He’s moved himself into draft consideration.

1/22/10: An All-Big Ten second-teamer, Jammie Kirlew recorded 15.5 TFL and 6.5 sacks as a senior.

11/14/09: Has 13.5 TFL and 5.5 sacks for a feisty Indiana squad this year.

2/12/09: Putting up the numbers Greg Middleton probably should have notched, Jammie Kirlew had 19.5 TFL and 10.5 sacks as a junior. Unfortunately, his 40 will scare some teams away.

Greg Middleton, DE, Indiana
Height: 6-3. Weight: 261.
Projected 40 Time: 4.92.
Combine 40 Time: 4.93.
Pro Day 40 Time: 5.08.

Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.

1/25/10: Finished with 8.5 TFL and three sacks. The pass-rusher we once knew is now gone forever.

2/12/09: Really disappointed as a junior; had just five TFL and four sacks after notching 16 sacks as a sophomore.

5/7/08: Looking at his size and speed measurables, you may determine that Greg Middleton is pretty difficult to block. Well, opposing linemen found that out the hard way, as Middleton registered a nation-high 16 sacks in 2007.

Nick Polk, SS, Indiana

2/28/10: Rodger Saffold displayed his athleticism at the Combine, running a 5.22 in the 40 and looking fluid in the drills. He definitely has left tackle potential in the NFL.
