2012 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Bradley Beal
Position: Shooting Guard
Size: 6-4, 205
School: Florida, Freshman
Strengths:
Attacking the basket
Athletic finisher
Three-point range
Moves well off the ball
Catch-and-shoot ability
Smooth stroke from the outside
Unselfish
Rarely forces the issue
Shows great maturity for his age
Rebounds well for his size
High-character person
Weaknesses:
Inconsistent outside shooter
Defers to teammates too often
Showing assertiveness finishing at the rim
Room to improve defensively
Summary: Beal is an interesting prospect for me. He didn't really get a chance to show off his true talent as a freshman playing in the same backcourt as Erving Walker and Kenny Boynton who have the ball in their hands so frequently. Still, he is a very talented young player and would be a mid-late lottery pick this summer.
Player Comparison: Eric Gordon. Due to his all-around skill level on the offensive end, Beal is most often compared to Eric Gordon. Beal didn't show the take-over ability in his freshman season like Gordon did, but he is certainly capable of being a big-time shooting guard at the next level.
