2010 Fantasy Football Rankings - Dallas Cowboys 2010 Fantasy Football Rankings – Dallas Cowboys:

Updated 6/4

  • Tony Romo, QB, Cowboys. Bye: 4.
Tony Romo finally got over his December inconsistency and finished the 2009 season with 4,483 yards, 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions. That’s pretty amazing considering he didn’t have a legitimate No. 1 receiver until Miles Austin-Jones stepped up in Week 5. Also, don’t forget all of those instances when Romo had to force the issue to Roy Williams. That’s not happening anymore with Dez Bryant on the roster.

Romo concluded the 2009 campaign as the No. 6 fantasy quarterback, but unless he suffers an injury, I’ll be surprised if he’s not a top-three finisher this year.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Stats: 4,650 passing yards. 29 passing TDs. 10 INTs. 100 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2010 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 298.
Projected 2010 Fantasy Points (QB Friendly): 402.

  • Felix Jones, RB, Cowboys. Bye: 4.
From ESPN reporters, to Cowboys beat writers, to fat kids working for fantasy Web sites, everyone believes Felix Jones will be the featured back this season. And so do I. Jerry Jones wants Felix to touch the ball 15-20 times per game, and that’s exactly what’s going to happen. If Felix can stay healthy, he’ll have about 250 touches this season, which should give him around 1,400 total yards. Unfortunately, he won’t get any of the goal-line work.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Stats: 975 rushing yards. 40 catches. 325 receiving yards. 6 total TDs.
    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 166.
Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 206.

  • Marion Barber, RB, Cowboys. Bye: 4.
Marion Barber will take a back seat to Felix Jones this season, but that doesn’t mean you should avoid Barber in your fantasy drafts. Barber should still receive all the goal-line work, and may approach double-digit touchdowns in 2010. Also, Felix Jones doesn’t have the best injury history. If Jones goes down, Barber will be in line for more carries.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Stats: 630 rushing yards. 20 catches. 160 receiving yards. 8 total TDs.
    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 127.
Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 147.

  • Miles Austin-Jones, WR, Cowboys. Bye: 4.
It’s amazing that Miles Austin-Jones finished with 81 receptions, 1,320 yards and 11 touchdowns in his first year as a starter – considering that he barely played in the first four games of the season. Now with an entire offseason to prepare as the No. 1 receiver, Austin-Jones could have a 90-catch 2010 campaign. And remember, the addition of Dez Bryant means that defenses won’t be able to pay as much attention to the Monmouth product.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Stats: 85 catches. 1,340 yards. 10 total TDs.
    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 194.
Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 279.

  • Dez Bryant, WR, Cowboys. Bye: 4.
Dez Bryant’s overblown character concerns dropped him all the way to No. 24 in the 2010 NFL Draft, where the Cowboys happily scooped him up. This was probably better for Bryant, as he’ll be in a highly productive offense with talented targets like Miles Austin-Jones and Jason Witten, who will draw attention from him.

Having said that, I normally don’t like drafting rookie receivers, and Bryant’s name could cause him to be overdrafted in most leagues. I think he’ll be good for about 800-900 yards and 6-7 touchdowns in his first season.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Stats: 52 catches. 800 yards. 7 total TDs.
    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 122.
Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 174.

  • Patrick Crayton, WR, Cowboys. Bye: 4.
With Roy Williams likely facing a demotion in the wake of Dez Bryant’s arrival, Patrick Crayton will remain the No. 4 non-running back option in Dallas’ passing attack.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Stats: 30 catches. 475 yards. 3 total TDs.
    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 65.
Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 95.

  • Roy Williams, WR, Cowboys. Bye: 4.
In Roy Williams’ final five games of the 2009 season (including the two playoff contests), he caught seven passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. Williams was already being faded out of Dallas’ offense, so now he’s going to be completely irrelevant with Dez Bryant on the roster.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Stats: 20 catches. 325 yards. 2 total TDs.
    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 44.
Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 64.

  • Jason Witten, TE, Cowboys. Bye: 4.
The epitome of consistency, Jason Witten caught at least four passes in each of Dallas’ 18 games last year. He led the team in receptions (94) and finished only behind Miles Austin-Jones in receiving yardage (1,030). However, there was a major problem: Witten scored only two touchdowns. In fact, Witten has never scored more than seven times in any season. The reason for this is that offensive coordinator Jason Garrett turns Witten into a blocker when the Cowboys reach the red zone.

Witten’s great for PPR leagues, but in more traditional formats, expect long stretches of touchdown-less games.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Stats: 86 catches. 990 yards. 4 total TDs.
    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 123.
Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 209.

  • David Buehler, K, Cowboys. Bye: 4.
If there’s any kicker with tons of upside, it’s David Buehler. Buehler has never attempted a field goal in his career, but he has a monstrous leg and was drafted relatively early by Jerry Jones a year ago. He’ll have plenty of kicking opportunities in Dallas this season.

    Projected 2009 Fantasy Stats: 26-32 FG (2-3 from 50+; 8-11 from 40-49). 49 XP.
    Projected 2009 Fantasy Points: 137.

  • Dallas Cowboys. Bye: 4.
The Cowboys are a great fantasy defense, as they produce tons of sacks and multiple return touchdowns.
