Drake Nevis, DT, LSU - Scouting Report
Height: 6-1. Weight: 298. Projected 40 Time: 4.92. Combine 40 Time: 4.97. Pro Day 40 Time: 4.92. Benchx225: 31. Vertical: 30.5. Arm: 31 1/2. Projected Round (2011): 2-3. 3/15/11: Drake Nevis measured in four pounds heavier at his Pro Day than he did at the Combine, but was still able to drop his 40 time by 0.05.
Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU - Scouting Report
Height: 6-0. Weight: 218. Projected 40 Time: 4.44. Combine 40 Time: 4.32. Pro Day 40 Time: DNP. Benchx225: 15. Vertical: 38. Arm: 32. Projected Round (2011): Top 4 Pick. 3/15/11: Patrick Peterson didn't run the 40 or anything at his Pro Day, but he looked great in the drills once again. He scheduled a private workout with the Denver Broncos. At this point, it'll be a major upset if Peterson falls out of the top four picks.
Stevan Ridley, RB, LSU
Height: 5-11. Weight: 230. Projected 40 Time: 4.60. Combine 40 Time: 4.67. Pro Day 40 Time: 4.66. Benchx225: 21. Vertical: 36. Broad: 9-10. Projected Round (2011): 4-6. 3/15/11: Steven Ridley put on five pounds since the Combine. The draft advisory committee told him he'd be drafted in Rounds 2-3, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen.
Kelvin Sheppard, ILB, LSU
Height: 6-2. Weight: 250. Projected 40 Time: 4.65. Combine 40 Time: DNP. Pro Day 40 Time: 4.70. Benchx225: 22. Vertical: 33.5. Arm: 31 3/4. Projected Round (2011): 3-4. 3/15/11: Kelvin Sheppard had a pretty mediocre 40 time at LSU's Pro Day. He stood on his other numbers.
I have no problems with your mock draft for the Raiders. I'm sure you're aware of the need at MLB, but doubling up on defensive tackles would make as much sense given the lack of pass rush outside of Mack.
@jsemmens I've been to the Big Board in the past, but it's still an inefficient way of going about a mock. Not to mention, reports and the people writing them change, no? I come to Walt's site because I used to like his insight on every player. Now, it's simply team needs and a very limited amount of actual analysis. You definitely need SOME amount of explanation behind a pick with regards to team need, but you need much more of the player evaluation angle. Any dummy can write why a particular team "needs" a specific position; it takes a pretty good eye to understand what player needs to fill it. Again, just my 2 cents.
Here's my mock based on team need, prospect value and prevailing opinion as well as some ideas of my own. Please let me know about the team(s) that you follow more closely, and any picks that you agree or disagree with. Please comment, and feel free to rate.
