I really like this Oregon State team. They're a feisty squad taking on a so-so Mountain West team that's still overrated from beating an Oklahoma club that was never good to begin with. The talent of these schools doesn't reflect the line in this meaningless scrimmage.

Once again, this Pac-10 team is much better than this Mountain West squad. The line doesn't reflect the talent here. Cal should win this winter practice game.

Funny how the bowl picks I didn't assign units to went 3-1, yet my "plays" were 0-2. Woe is me.
Pitt had the promising season before two late losses. I don't see how they get up for this pre-New Years scrimmage against a crappy North Carolina team that's just happy to be here.

USC is always used to playing in the granddaddy of all meaningless winter scrimmages. I don't see how they can possibly be fired up for playing a crappy Boston College team.

I know some Temple alums, and they're all thrilled to be playing a scrimmage against crappy UCLA. Not sure why, but this scrimmage means a lot to them. Oh, and UCLA traveling to the East Coast for a meaningless scrimmage isn't too promising for them.
Because I've been asked repeatedly, the other picks for this week are Ohio -3, Clemson -6.5, Texas A&M +7, Miami -3.5, Bowling Green -2, Arizona PK. All are for zero units.

I had it with these stupid bowls/scrimmages. Really. I went on my rant about college football bowls here.
Upon request, I will pick this game. There's no doubt in my mind that Alabama will win this game. I don't think the Longhorns are any good. They haven't beaten anyone this year. Their non-conference games were against the likes of Central Florida and Wyoming. They knocked off Oklahoma, but Sam Bradford was out. They nearly lost to Nebraska in the Big XII Championship, yet the Huskers had some high school kid quarterbacking their team.
When Texas has gone against quality defenses, they've really struggled. They had 13 points against Nebraska and 16 versus Oklahoma. Alabama has the top defense in the nation.
The Crimson Tide have way too much SEC speed for a Big XII opponent. We saw this last year in the Florida-Oklahoma game. I just don't see how the limited Colt McCoy can do anything against Alabama's dominant defense.
I'm going seven units here - which probably means that the Longhorns will win.
