Debaclation Nation

Welcome to the new Debaclation Nation, a fancy title for this Web site's new poll center.
Each Wednesday, I'll post an interesting (or boring) Debaclation Nation poll so you can vote and argue over it. I'll keep the Debaclation Nation polls archived, so you can go back and keep arguing or see who was right. It's the question everyone in the football world wants to know the answer to: Will there be a lockout in 2011? Feb. 16 |

If you work at an Applebees 5 days a week and make $500 per week, would you work 6 days for $400? No. What the League is asking of the players is ludicrous.

Id love for football to be year round, but I agree that another 2 games is extremely tough on the players. The owners make exponentially more than players so why not compensate them for it if they are so adamant about having it?

No season? Don't count on it. Everybody in this thing is too greedy. Both sides would be leaving a lot of money on the table. Besides, we need to get Wade Phillips fat ass to work installing our new defense.

Whats going to be really crazy is if we get to the draft with no CBA in place. Without one, players already under contract cannot be traded. Meaning a draft without any big trade moves. They would only be able to trade pick for pick. Could be an interesting draft.

There's a slight problem with the wording here. A lockout will begin on March 6th, 12:01AM. Players will not be able to go to the facilities. They will not be collecting checks or covered by the NFL's insurance. I think you're more asking if it will influence the actual start of the season, which it may or may not do. However the poll as worded right now has 46.4% of people saying there won't be a lockout even though there won't be a CBA signed on March 5th.

Well, if they'll have a new CBA between March and August, there would be a lockout up to that point (like, no OTAs and stuff). Which would suck for teams with young QBs and a lot of new players and rookies. And if the lockout goes on long enough, it would really kill every team with a new offensive system.

To have an organization that is worth billions if not trillions of dollars, one year would be way to much of a hit to all the big pocket execs who wipe their asses with $100s. No way at all a lockout happens it's just a matter of when it all gets resolved.

a Lockout would be extremely detrimental to both sides. I can't imagine that happening.

The whole reason the owners opted out of the old cba was to get more money from the players and both sides know that if it gets within a month or two of a lockout the owners will lose a ton of money. I honestly think that they will get a new cba done before the draft so owners can draft players knowing there's a rookie pay scale in place.

With the way a few owners had been gambling with free agency, not renewing any contract in the last few months, it seems to me they are in the know.
They know that there will be no real free agency time window, this means they will sign the new CBA early in September, just before the kickoff and there won't be any preseason.

I don't know that even want to contemplate a full Lockout next season. Not even as a hypothetical. Execs and Players can't be that stupid can they?

First comment... we're going to have comment boards like this all over the site soon. We're still working out the kinks, so this is not the finished product.
