PhoenixRogue has A good point A 3rd,4th, or even 5th rounder can move in and start for the Panther who went 2-14 last season and have more needs then any other team in the NFL.Carolina will probably need to replace DeAngelo Williams along with A laundry list of other players and positions that need upgrading...FYI wasn't Marques Coulston A 7th rounder and Tom Brady A 6th rounder if your scouting dept. is good there can be A gem found in the rough.

I say we draft cam newton cause jimmy clausen doesnt have "it" haha. yes newton was inaccurate at the combine but i think he will show what he is really made of on pro day at auburn.

It doesn't look like the Panthers want to wait until next year for a QB, and the Gabbert hype train is at full speed right now. I've got him at #1 in my mock. He's undeserving of it, but it'll probably happen.

Uh, Joel, 4th rounders come in and start, that has already been proven on the boards when Cutty went down that path. 3rd rounders definitely start. LaFell was our third rounder from last season, he's starting. Corvey Irvin injured himself the year before. Godfrey started out the gate, Charles Johnson started this year, Anderson started this year. Connor for a time started this year. I mean seriously 3rd rounders in Carolina start rather quickly.

I agree they could trade down, but, if they want to give Claussen a chance then you draft Green 1 and at least that way he has a top weapon to help him.

I think Ultimately they trade down witht the sucker GM who is in love with Newton.

bottom line is this... the organization needs to figure out a way to prevent our cornerstone pieces from leaving without getting compensation for them. Losing Julius Peppers last year to free agency and possibly deangelo williams this year without getting draft picks as replacements is UNACCEPTABLE!!!
Not having that early second round pick means we wont get another immediate impact player this year. Typically 3-7 rounders dont come into the NFL and start. So we have to think about free agents for next year and who will be available in the draft to help influence what the front office will do. Next year the draft will have several quality candidates to be NFL ready QB's. (Luck, Landry Jones, Matt Barkley). Therefore i predict they go defense this year. Especially since ron rivera is a defensive guy. In case the team sucks with Clausen at QB Rivera will have a good D if they add a talent like dareus, fairley, or peterson.

Makes no sense to draft a 3-4 player for a 4-3 system.

I've really thought about it, and A.J. Green really makes the most sense.

QB is obviously a more important position, but I'm not sold on Cam Newton. I personally think he'll fall and he'll fall hard when he gets to the NFL. Gabbert might make sense, but they already have a doosh bag QB, so why would they need another one? (Btw, I'm actually a fan of Gabbert, just don't think he's the #1 overall pick worthy).

Marcell Dareus blew up the combine, yes, but he's still been underwhelming as a player in his career and being a physical freak doesn't change that. See Gholston, Vernon. Or Johnon, Michael.

As far as the old consensus, Fairley, he's a player I wouldn't want on my team. He's only had one productive season, and the character concerns are red flags for me.

Da'Quan Bowers is another one-year wonder, and he and Quinn just don't impress me as that once-in-a-generation prospect.

So, that leaves Patrick Peterson and A.J. Green, the two players I believe are the can't miss players in the draft. Because WR is an egregiously greater need in Carolina, Green is the pick.
