Debaclation Nation

Welcome to the new Debaclation Nation, a fancy title for this Web site's new poll center.
Each Wednesday, I'll post an interesting (or boring) Debaclation Nation poll so you can vote and argue over it. I'll keep the Debaclation Nation polls archived, so you can go back and keep arguing or see who was right. Terrell Owens' career could be over in the wake of his ACL injury. Will he be a Hall of Famer? June 30 |

T.O. should be in the hall of fame first ballot
He has had issues with dropped balls but he also has one of the most productive careers of wide receivers and he continues to work hard and be productive late into his 30's he works hard to keep his body in shape and i think he will come back from his injury this year and still be productive

Some people forget that T.O. dropped like a dozen balls in that game vs the Packers. If he had been catching the balls the entire game the 49ers would have won comfortably. But, because of his butterfingers it came down to a last second miracle.

Ocho Cinco and T.O. have the same problem. They're larger-than-life personalities have really caused people to forgot how good of football players they were. That is why he will have to wait a little bit.

Wait, you would have said he was a hall of famer a few years ago but not now? I guess you don't think Jerry Rice should be in the hall of fame either because of his last few years with the Raiders and Seahawks?

I dont think he should be in because you have to play at a high level every year and he has not done that. I voted no for that reason but his antics also make a strong case against him as well. I really don't think he deserves to be even thought of as a potential HOF. Maybe a few yrs ago i would've said yes he is an HOF but not now.

His catch against the Packers in the '98 playoff game was one of the biggest catches in playoff history. One of the more gifted recievers ever, no one took better care of themselves physcially as T.O. His superbowl performance is underrated to come back from a broken leg and still put up the numbers he did was huge. Of course his off the field/on the field antics were annoying and immautre, yet they were strangely entertaining. First ballot Hall of Famer!

@Funk - I completely agree with you. He should be a first-ballot HOF but I could see them making him wait a year or two.

However, I maybe COULD see the HOF trying to teach him a little lesson in humility, albeit very late in his life, by making him wait for a couple of ballots to pass before allowing him in...Just a little F.U. for some of his off-the-field antics and as a demo for players who aspire to the same records but might be convinced to be more responsible off the field.

Andy- Didn't Marshall take the single-game receptions record in 2009? I thought he did w/ something like 22? That isn't to say T.O. shouldn't easily be a first-balloter. He has too many other records going for him.

Consistent as hell. Made plays, whined for the ball. Every stop, every team. He's in, but it's just a matter of first ballot or not.

@He Stinks - Cris Carter posted great numbers in his career, but he was never near as dominant as Terrell Owens was in his prime.

So to sum up we're saying he's a first ballot hall of famer but if Cris Carter, Art Monk, Lynn Swann, Tim Brown, etc can't get in first ballot then T.O. will simply have to wait his turn. Sound about right?
Frankly I'm still waiting for Jerry Kramer to get in.

Steve Largent is the only other 1st ballot WR I can think of. No way will T.O. be a 1st ballot guy, unless its a vote on his reality show.

If Cris Carter can't get in, why would someone not as good get in?
