2015 NFL Mock Draft: Round 2

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Nick O’Leary, TE, Florida State
    Marcedes Lewis has been a huge disappointment since signing his contract, so the Jaguars need an upgrade. Lewis, 31 right after the 2015 NFL Draft, will be due nearly $7 million in the final season of his contract, so Jacksonville may cut him next offseason.

  2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Tre Jackson, G, Florida State
    Despite trading for Logan Mankins, the Buccaneers have issues on the interior of their offensive line that need to be addressed, especially if they use their first-round pick on a quarterback.

  3. Oakland Raiders: Ty Montgomery, WR, Stanford
    The Raiders have a bunch of secondary and tertiary options at receiver, but they don’t have a primary target for Derek Carr. They need to make sure that changes.

  4. Tennessee Titans: Cody Prewitt, S, Ole Miss
    The Titans need help all over their defense after their disgraceful showings against the Cowboys and Bengals. One area that may need to be addressed next offseason is the safety position. Michael Griffin will be due more than $6 million, so he could be released because of financial purposes.

  5. New York Giants: Michael Bennett, DT, Ohio State
    The Giants need to get younger and better in their defensive interior after losing Linval Joseph. Cullen Jenkins, 34 in January, won’t be around much longer.

  6. Miami Dolphins: Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State
    I regret not slotting Jameis Winston to the Dolphins in Round 1. I may do that next week. For now, here’s Miami’s next quarterback. The coaching staff seems ready to give up on Ryan Tannehill.

  7. Buffalo Bills: Sean Mannion, QB, Oregon State
    The Bills can’t get a franchise quarterback in the first round, so perhaps they’ll obtain one here. They don’t really have any other choice. E.J. Manuel will be Buffalo’s downfall this year.

  8. Houston Texans: Brett Hundley, QB, UCLA
    We’ll see what happens with Ryan Mallett and Tom Savage, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they Texans used a day-two selection on a more promising quarterback.

  9. New York Jets: Rashad Greene, WR, Florida State
    The Jets reached for a bunch of receivers in the 2014 NFL Draft. Perhaps they’ll take one this year who satisfies proper value.

  10. Chicago Bears: Owamagbe Odighizuwa, DE, UCLA
    The Bears signed a bunch of defensive ends last offseason, but some of them – mainly Jared Allen – are short-term rentals. Here’s a potential starter for the future.

  11. St. Louis Rams: A.J. Cann, G, South Carolina
    The Rams have interior offensive line problems – what else is new? – because Davin Joseph is struggling, even after beating out Greg Robinson for the starting job.

  12. Dallas Cowboys: Carl Davis, DT, Iowa
    Another defensive line upgrade. The Cowboys’ horrific defense needs upgrades everywhere, including a couple up front.

  13. Kansas City Chiefs: Kevin White, WR, West Virginia
    Alex Smith is completely overrated by the media, but he doesn’t have much of a chance with his supporting cast. Dwayne Bowe is just a No. 2 receiver masquerading as a top target, while none of the other receivers are very skilled. The Chiefs might be regretting passing on Kelvin Benjamin.

  14. Washington Redskins: Karl Joseph, S, West Virginia
    The issues the Redskins have in their secondary are pretty well documented. They’re counting on Ryan Clark this year, which is bound to be disastrous because the former Steeler is way past his prime.

  15. Cleveland Browns: Nelson Agholor, WR, USC
    The Browns missed out on Amari Cooper in the first round, so they’ll have to settle for a lesser talent at the receiver position at this juncture.

  16. Minnesota Vikings: Benardrick McKinney, LB, Mississippi State
    The Vikings have some issues in their linebacking corps. They need a third player to go along with Anthony Barr and Chad Greenway in the present, and they’ll need a replacement for Greenway (32 in January) in the long term.

  17. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jordan Jenkins, DE/OLB, Georgia
    The Steelers hate drafting edge rushers early on because of scheme transition issues, but they really need to upgrade their pass rush.

  18. Carolina Panthers: Cameron Erving, OT/G, Florida State
    The Panthers didn’t want to reach for a left tackle at No. 28. The problem is that they didn’t address the position at all. They’re 2-1 right now, but they’re still having issues at both tackle spots.

  19. Atlanta Falcons: Ben Koyack, TE, Notre Dame
    Think Matt Ryan missed having a reliable, intermediate target when he was constantly under siege in Cincinnati?

  20. Detroit Lions: Christian Covington, DT, Rice
    The Lions suddenly need to look at defensive tackles. Ndamukong Suh is entering his contract year, while Nick Fairley has issues with lethargy.



  21. Baltimore Ravens: Stefon Diggs, WR, Maryland
    Regardless of whether or not the Steve Smith signing pans out – we’ll see how long his body holds up as the season progresses – the Ravens know that they have to seriously upgrade the receiver position next spring.

  22. Indianapolis Colts: Lorenzo Mauldin, DE/OLB, Louisville
    Another pass-rushing upgrade for the Colts. They really need to focus on this area during the upcoming offseason.

  23. Philadelphia Eagles: Jake Fisher, OT, Oregon
    Another Oregon player for Chip Kelly. This one can upgrade Todd Herremans at right guard and then move to tackle once Jason Peters retires.

  24. Arizona Cardinals: Josue Matias, G, Florida State
    Jonathan Cooper has been a mega bust thus far. If he continues to disappoint, the Cardinals may bring in someone to challenge him.



  25. New England Patriots: D.J. Humphries, OT/G, Florida
    The Patriots’ biggest weakness is the offensive line. The interior can’t block at all, so Bill Belichick may trade away his next-best blocker for another tight end he won’t use. If not, I’m sure he’ll look at another Florida prospect.

  26. San Francisco 49ers: Arik Armstead, DE/DT, Oregon
    Both Justin Smith and the troubled Ray McDonald will be entering their contract years in 2015. Here’s someone who could start on the defensive line in the future.

  27. Green Bay Packers: Sean Hickey, OT, Syracuse
    Bryan Bulaga, who suffered yet another injury, will be hitting free agency next spring, so the Packers may look into taking a tackle if Derek Sherrod doesn’t show signs of improvement.

  28. Cincinnati Bengals: KeiVarae Russell, CB, Notre Dame
    Terence Newman and Pacman Jones have done well in Cincinnati, but neither will be around for much longer. Here’s a long-term replacement.

  29. New Orleans Saints: Alvin Dupree, DE/OLB, Kentucky
    The Saints got rid of Victor Butler, so they definitely need to work on finding an upgrade across from Junior Galette. Anyone who can tackle would fit in well.

  30. San Diego Chargers: DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville
    Malcom Floyd will be a 34-year-old entering his contract season in 2015. The Chargers may want to find a long-term starter across from Keenan Allen.

  31. Denver Broncos: Derron Smith, S, Fresno State
    Rahim Moore is an impending free agent in March, so here’s a potential replacement for him.

  32. Seattle Seahawks: Laken Tomlinson, G, Duke
    The Seahawks could stand to upgrade the interior of their offensive line, as J.R. Sweezy hasn’t played very well this season.
