  1. Cleveland Browns: Joshua Dobbs, QB, Tennessee
This is way too early for Joshua Dobbs, but the Browns aren’t scared to reach for a quarterback prospect if they like him, as they spent a third-round pick on Cody Kessler last year when everyone thought Kessler would be taken in the sixth or seventh frame. The scuttlebutt is that the Browns like Dobbs, as they coached him in the Senior Bowl.

  2. San Francisco 49ers: JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, USC
It shouldn’t surprise anyone if the 49ers double up on receivers, given how weak they are at the position.

Pick change; previously Malachi Dupre, WR

  3. Chicago Bears: Carlos Henderson, WR, Louisiana Tech
Alshon Jeffery is an impending free agent, and both he and Kevin White are difficult to trust anyway, given the amount of time they’ve missed over the years.

  4. Jacksonville Jaguars: Josh Jones, S, N.C. State
John Cyprien finally had a breakout year for the Jaguars. However, he’s an impending free agent, so the Jaguars will need a new safety if they can’t retain him.

Pick change; previously Marcus Maye, S

  5. Los Angeles Rams: Noah Brown, WR, Ohio State
The Rams keep waiting for Brian Quick to do something, but it’s not happening. They need to find another weapon for Jared Goof.

  6. New York Jets: Cooper Kupp, WR, Eastern Washington
There’s speculation that the Jets could release Brandon Marshall. Doing so would provide some much-needed cap relief. If that happens, New York will need a new receiver.

  7. Los Angeles Chargers: Derek Rivers, DE/OLB, Youngstown State
The Chargers have mostly been using Joey Bosa on the defensive line, so they could stand to find another outside linebacker to play across from Melvin Ingram.

Pick change; previously Erik Magnuson, OT

  8. New England Patriots: Tarell Basham, DE, Ohio
The Patriots are going to lose Chris Long this offseason, so they could stand to add a defensive end to play across from Trey Flowers.

Pick change; previously Dalvin Tomlinson, DT

  9. Cincinnati Bengals: Jalen Tabor, CB, Florida
The Bengals used last year’s first-round pick on William Jackson, but another young cornerback could be acquired, and I doubt Cincinnati will care too much about Jalen Tabor’s off-the-field concerns.

Pick change; previously Budda Baker, S

  10. Philadelphia Eagles: Malachi Dupre, WR, LSU
The Eagles suffered through so many drops from their receivers throughout the 2016 campaign. They’ll need to acquire two new wideouts this offseason. Fortunately, this draft class is deep at the position.

Pick change; previously Kareem Hunt, RB

  11. Buffalo Bills: Cameron Sutton, CB, Tennessee
The Bills will likely select a cornerback early in the 2017 NFL Draft unless they pick up someone in free agency. Stephon Gilmore struggled this past season, and he happens to be a free agent anyway.

Pick change; previously Marcus Williams, S

  12. New Orleans Saints: Nico Siragusa, G, San Diego State
The Saints have taken care of two big problem areas on defense already. They can now turn their attention toward the offense, which could be even better if Drew Brees had stronger interior protection.

  13. Arizona Cardinals: Budda Baker, S, Washington
Tony Jefferson is one of several free agents the Cardinals could lose this offseason. If Jefferson departs, a second-day selection could be used on a replacement.

Pick change; previously Davis Webb, QB

  14. Baltimore Ravens: Carroll Phillips, DE/OLB, Illinois
The Ravens struggled to get pressure on the quarterback most of the year, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see them double up on edge rushers.

Carroll Phillips is a first-round talent, but is expected to fall to Day 2 because of character issues. The Ravens have taken chances on troubled players before and have had success in doing so.

  15. Minnesota Vikings: Taylor Moton, OT, Western Michigan
The Vikings need to continue retooling their atrocious offensive line. Help is needed at tackle, especially if Matt Kalil leaves via free agency.

Pick change; previously Erik Magnuson, OT

  16. Indianapolis Colts: Raekwon McMillan, LB, Ohio State
The Colts have some of the worst linebackers in the NFL, and they’ve struggled to cover tight ends and running backs as pass-catchers out of the backfield as a result. Here’s a much-needed upgrade.

  17. Washington Redskins: Nathan Peterman, QB, Pittsburgh
Kirk Cousins is reportedly frustrated with the Redskins, and it’s sounding like he could leave either this offseason or the next. Check out my Kirk Cousins 49ers-Redskins Trade Discussion page. It might not be a bad idea for the Redskins to select a potential successor.

  18. Denver Broncos: Blair Brown, LB, Ohio
The Broncos missed Danny Trevathan last year, as Todd Davis didn’t do a great job as a replacement. He’ll need to be upgraded.

Pick change; previously Charles Walker, DT
  19. Tennessee Titans: Charles Harris, DE/OLB, Missouri
You can never have too many pass-rushers, so why not obtain a great value like Charles Harris in the third round? Harris really struggled at the combine, but he’s definitely worth taking at this juncture.

Pick change; previously Dede Westbrook, WR

  20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Dawuane Smoot, DE/OLB, Illinois
The Buccaneers are getting quite the bargain with DeMarcus Walker in the middle of the third round. They need another edge rusher, as Robert Ayers, who turns 32 in August, is just a short-term solution at defensive end.

Pick change; previously DeMarcus Walker, DE/DT

  21. Detroit Lions: Kareem Hunt, RB, Toledo
The Lions can’t count on Ameer Abdullah, as he hasn’t been able to stay healthy in either of his two seasons. The front office could take a running back on the second day of the draft.

Pick change; previously Jordan Leggett, TE

  22. Minnesota Vikings: Ethan Pocic, C/G, LSU
More offensive line help is needed. Brandon Fusco was released, but he needed to be upgraded anyway. Minnesota could pick Ethan Pocic, as he can also play center if needed.

Pick change; previously Nazair Jones, DE/DT

  23. New York Giants: D’Onta Foreman, RB, Texas
The Giants have released Rashad Jennings, so they could spend an early-round selection on a running back to pair with Paul Perkins.

Pick change; previously Bucky Hodges, TE

  24. Oakland Raiders: Chad Hansen, WR, California
The Raiders have two stud receivers in Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree, but they have one of the weakest No. 3 wideouts in the NFL, as Seth Roberts dropped countless passes in 2016.

  25. Houston Texans: Antonio Garcia, OT, Troy
It’s unfortunate that Derek Newton’s career could be over because of a double patellar tendon tear. The Texans will have to find a new right tackle.

Pick change; previously Will Holden, OT

  26. Seattle Seahawks: Eddie Vanderdoes, DT, UCLA
Prior to the 2016 NFL Draft, one team thought the Seahawks were going to select Robert Nkemdiche. Seattle could use another interior pass-rusher to help the secondary out if there are injuries once again.

  27. Kansas City Chiefs: Joe Mixon, RB, Oklahoma
The Chiefs cut Jamaal Charles, so they’ll need to spend an early-round selection on a new running back.

Joe Mixon is an ultra-talented running back, but will slip in the draft because he punched a woman a couple of years ago. However, Andy Reid has given second chances to players, so perhaps he’ll give Mixon a shot to redeem himself, just as he did with Tyreek Hill.

Pick change; previously Jeremy McNichols, RB

  28. Dallas Cowboys: DeMarcus Walker, DE/DT, Florida State
The Cowboys could stand to bolster their pass rush, which tends to be pretty inconsistent. It would help if Randy Gregory could play, but Dallas has to move on, given that he can’t stay out of trouble.

Pick change; previously Garrett Sickels, DE

  29. Green Bay Packers: Brian Hill, RB, Wyoming
Ty Montgomery looked awesome at running back in a couple of games, but how sustainable is that? And will Eddie Lacy continue to gain weight? There are lots of questions at running back for the Packers, who can solve them by selecting a talented player like Brian Hill.

Pick change; previously Fabian Moreau, CB

  30. Pittsburgh Steelers: Nazair Jones, DE/DT, North Carolina
The Steelers could stand to add some depth on the defensive line. Doing so will be worth it if Cameron Heyward gets hurt again.

Pick change; previously Montravius Adams, DT

  31. Atlanta Falcons: Larry Ogunjobi, DT, Charlotte
The Falcons could stand to upgrade the interior of their defensive line, and they could be targeting someone athletic like Larry Ogunjobi.

Pick change; previously Jordan Willis, DE/OLB

  32. New England Patriots: Montravius Adams, DE/DT, Auburn
The Patriots never found an interior threat after releasing Dominique Easley, so here’s their chance to do so.

Pick change; previously Ryan Anderson, DE/OLB

  33. Miami Dolphins: Jermaine Eluemunor, G, Texas A&M
The Dolphins are moving Laremy Tunsil to left tackle in the wake of Branden Albert’s release, so they’ll need to find a new guard.

  34. Carolina Panthers: Julie’n Davenport, OT, Bucknell
It’s very possible that the Panthers will spend multiple picks on offensive tackles in the first three or four rounds, given how dire the situation is for them at the position.

Pick change; previously Adam Bisnowaty, OT

  35. Baltimore Ravens: ArDarius Stewart, WR, Alabama
The Ravens are hurting at receiver, especially in the wake of Steve Smith’s retirement. A wideout will need to be acquired in the early stages of the 2017 NFL Draft.

  36. Tennessee Titans: Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan
The Titans, as mentioned, have major problems in their secondary, so I think they’d have to be thrilled if they can get both an elite safety and a promising cornerback prospect with their two picks in the first round. If not, a solid cornerback can be chosen in the third frame.

Pick change; previously Cameron Sutton, CB

  37. Denver Broncos: Charles Walker, DT, Oklahoma
Here’s more defensive line help for the Broncos, as Charles Walker appears to be a nice fit in Denver’s scheme.

Pick change; previously Anthony Walker, ILB

  38. Seattle Seahawks: Conor McDermott, OT, UCLA
It’s no secret that the Seahawks need to upgrade their offensive line. This class of blockers is weak, but Seattle has to try something.

Pick change; previously Tyus Bowser, DE/OLB

  39. New England Patriots: Marcus Maye, S, Florida
The Patriots have a great secondary, but they could stand to upgrade Patrick Chung, who was a liability this past season.

Pick change; previously Ethan Pocic, C

  40. Kansas City Chiefs: Jake Butt, TE, Michigan
Andy Reid loves using multiple tight ends, so this is an option despite Travis Kelce being on the roster. This is some major value, as Jake Butt getting hurt caused him to drop two rounds.

  41. Pittsburgh Steelers: Duke Riley, LB, LSU
The Steelers have been hesitant to say if Lawrence Timmons will be returning. If Timmons leaves via free agency, Pittsburgh will likely spend a mid-round pick on a linebacker.

Pick change; previously Kendell Beckwith, LB

  42. Seattle Seahawks: Kevin King, CB, Washington
It’s about that time of the draft when the Seahawks select a tall cornerback who turns into a Pro Bowler.

  43. New York Jets: Tyler Orlosky, C, West Virginia
The Jets cut Nick Mangold for financial purposes, so they’ll need to replace him early in the 2017 NFL Draft if they don’t get anyone in free agency.
