  1. Cleveland Browns: Marcus Maye, S, Florida
The Browns fixed some of their issues on defense in the first round by selecting an edge rusher and a cornerback. Here’s something else for the secondary, as the Browns have some of the worst safeties in the NFL, so they need to make some upgrades.

  2. San Francisco 49ers: JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, USC
I don’t understand why the 49ers avoided addressing the receiver position until late in the 2016 NFL Draft. How did they not realize that they have such a huge need in that area?

  3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Ethan Pocic, C/G, LSU
The Jaguars tried Luke Joeckel at guard, but it doesn’t appear as though he’s cutting it there either. They’ll have to spend an early selection on an upgrade.

  4. Chicago Bears: Martinas Rankin, OT, Mississippi State
The Bears selected a quarterback in Round 1. Now, they’ll have to protect him. Chicago’s interior offensive line is great, but help is desperately needed at tackle.

Pick change; previously Ryan Ramczyk, OT

  5. New York Jets: Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson
Here he is. As mentioned in Round 1, teams have really soured on Deshaun Watson. No team we’ve spoken to has him as a first-round prospect. One high-ranking personnel man in the NFC told me he has Watson as a third-round prospect. It’s so much like the Teddy Bridgewater draft, when the media had Bridgewater in the first round, and yet NFL franchises considered him to be a second-day prospect, even before his woeful pro day.

I have to believe the Jets would be thrilled to land Watson here, however. They have nothing at quarterback, and that includes last year’s second-round choice, Christian Hackenberg, who is a sunk cost.

  6. Los Angeles Rams: Curtis Samuel, WR, Ohio State
The Rams keep waiting for Brian Quick to do something, but it’s not happening. They need to find another weapon for Jared Goff.

  7. San Diego Chargers: Justin Evans, S, Texas A&M
The Chargers could stand to use an early draft pick to find a replacement for Eric Weddle, and there are a couple of intriguing safety prospects in the second round.

  8. Cincinnati Bengals: Jarrad Davis, LB, Florida
The Bengals have a couple of linebackers entering their contract years in 2017, so they may opt to use a selection in Rounds 2-4 on a future starter, especially if they can get great value like this.

Pick change; previously Budda Baker, S

  9. Philadelphia Eagles: Desmond King, CB, Iowa
Here’s the cornerback pick the Eagles eschewed in the first round. They’re really hurting at the position, and if you don’t believe me, just check out what Andy Dalton did to Philadelphia’s secondary in Week 13.

Pick change; previously D’Onta Foreman, RB

  10. Carolina Panthers: Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford
The Panthers often take the best player on their board, so don’t yell at me for not giving them an offensive tackle yet. There are still some promising pass-rushers on the board, and Carolina needs one with Charles Johnson set to hit free agency.

  11. Arizona Cardinals: Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU
Larry Fitzgerald has mulled over retirement, but even if he keeps playing, it’ll be difficult to retain Michael Floyd, who will be entering free agency come March.

  12. Indianapolis Colts: Takkarist McKinley, DE/OLB, UCLA
The Colts desperately need to upgrade their linebacking corps. That includes finding a potent edge rusher, which is something they currently lack right now. Erik Walden sucks; Trent Cole is old; while Robert Mathis is even older.

  13. Minnesota Vikings: Julie’n Davenport, OT, Bucknell
I’m sure that if the Vikings had the cap space, they would’ve used this pick to trade for Joe Thomas. Alas, they do not, so they can try to remedy their awful tackle situation by picking one at this juncture.

  14. New Orleans Saints: Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio State
When the Saints released Keenan Lewis in the offseason, it was pretty evident that they would have issues at cornerback this season, and that has turned out to be the case. They need an upgrade across from Delvin Breaux so they can stop starting the likes of B.W. Webb.

Pick change; previously Desmond King, CB

  15. Buffalo Bills: Budda Baker, S, Washington
It’s unfortunate, but it’s possible that Aaron Williams’ career could be over because of that ridiculous hit he took from Jarvis Landry. If so, the Bills will have to target a safety in free agency or the early stages of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Pick change; previously Tre’Davious White, CB

  16. Baltimore Ravens: Nazair Jones, DE/DT, North Carolina
Here’s more help for the front seven, as the Ravens need to improve what they have going on at defensive end in addition to their outside linebacker depth problems.

  17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jaleel Johnson, DT, Iowa
Gerald McCoy is having another terrific season, but he has no help next to him at defensive tackle. The Buccaneers could stand to find an upgrade on the defensive interior.

  18. Denver Broncos: O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama
A.J. Derby is just an OK player. The Broncos can do better than him at tight end, especially after his crucial drop versus New England, and O.J. Howard is one of the better prospects available.

  19. Cleveland Browns: Pat Mahomes, QB, Texas Tech
Hue Jackson hinted to Cris Collinsworth that there’s a quarterback the team likes in the 2017 NFL Draft class. I don’t know why he would be smoke-screening this early, though it’s impossible to guess which signal-caller that is. Part of me thinks it might be Mitch Trubisky in the first round, but if not, perhaps it’s Pat Mahomes.

Yes, Pat Mahomes, the Texas Tech quarterback. There are a wide variety of opinions on Mahomes. Charlie Campbell reported that some teams have second-round grades on Mahomes. Besides, we’ve seen the Browns reach on a quarterback before in Cody Kessler, and Mahomes has the accuracy that Hue Jackson values.

  20. Washington Redskins: Anthony Walker, ILB, Northwestern
As discussed in the first round, the Redskins need to bolster the interior of their defense, whether that’s drafting a nose tackle or an inside linebacker. One of the top players available happens to fill the latter need.

Pick change; previously Raekwon McMillan, LB

  21. Houston Texans: Forrest Lamp, OT, Western Kentucky
It’s unfortunate that Derek Newton’s career could be over because of a double patellar tendon tear. The Texans will have to find a new right tackle, and I’m sure they’d love to get Forrest Lamp.

  22. Green Bay Packers: Alvin Kamara, RB, Tennessee
Ty Montgomery looked awesome at running back against the Bears, but how sustainable is that? And will Eddie Lacy continue to gain weight? There are lots of questions at running back for the Packers, who can solve them by selecting a talented player like Alvin Kamara.

  23. Detroit Lions: Tre’Davious White, CB, LSU
Nevin Lawson’s upgraded play has been quite the surprise for the Lions, as they once again have a potent one-two punch at cornerback. Lawson, however, will be entering free agency after the 2017 campaign and could be too expensive to keep. Besides, you can never have enough talented corners when trying to defeat Aaron Rodgers.

Pick change; previously Gareon Conley, CB

  24. Miami Dolphins: Evan Engram, TE, Ole Miss
It’s safe to say that the Dolphins haven’t exactly gotten what they had expected out of Jordan Cameron, though not all of that is his fault, given his concussion issues. Here’s a much-needed upgrade at tight end.

  25. Seattle Seahawks: Carroll Phillips, DE/OLB, Auburn
I thought there was a good chance that the Seahawks would upgrade their edge rush last offseason, but they didn’t pull the trigger. They can make amends for that at this juncture, and there’s never anything wrong with adding extra talented pass-rushers. Like Tim Williams, Carroll Phillips has fallen because of character concerns.

  26. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jeremy McNichols, RB, Boise State
DeAngelo Williams won’t be around much longer, so the Steelers will need a viable backup running back just in case Le’Veon Bell gets suspended again.

  27. Atlanta Falcons: Dan Feeney, G, Indiana
The Falcons could stand to upgrade Chris Chester, the one liability that they currently possess on their offensive line. Dan Feeney won’t be able to teach his teammates much until he’s a veteran, but he could provide an upgrade on the interior of the front.

  28. Kansas City Chiefs: Tim Williams, DE/OLB, Alabama
Here we go. If you noticed Tim Williams missing in the first round, it’s because I’ve decided to drop him to the end of the second frame. We’ve learned of some glaring off-the-field issues regarding Williams, so if you’re searching for a comparison, think Randy Gregory’s fall a couple of years ago. However, some team will take a shot on Williams because of his immense talent level, and Andy Reid has given second chances to players before.

  29. New York Giants: Roderick Johnson, OT, Florida State
I’m sure the Giants wouldn’t hesitate to grab an offensive tackle, considering how dire of a need it is for them.

  30. Oakland Raiders: Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan
The Raiders have two great cornerbacks in David Amerson and Sean Smith, but that’s about it. They could use depth at the position, and it doesn’t hurt that they’re getting one of the top prospects available.

Pick change; previously Anthony Walker, LB

  31. New England Patriots: Pat Elflein, C/G, Ohio State
The Patriots could use some help on the offensive line, namely at tackle and center. Pat Elflein can play all three positions on the interior, and Bill Belichick loves blockers with versatility.

  32. Dallas Cowboys: Jake Butt, TE, Michigan
Jason Witten doesn’t have much time remaining in the NFL, so the Cowboys could stand to use an early selection on a tight end.
