2015 NFL Mock Draft: Round 2

  1. Oakland Raiders: T.J. Yeldon, RB, Alabama
    Darren McFadden won’t be around much longer, while Maurice Jones-Drew hasn’t shown that he can stay healthy. T.J. Yeldon figures to be an upgrade in the backfield.

  2. Jacksonville Jaguars: Devin Funchess, TE, Michigan
    Marcedes Lewis has been a huge disappointment since signing his contract, so the Jaguars need an upgrade. Lewis, 31 right after the 2015 NFL Draft, will be due nearly $7 million in the final season of his contract, so Jacksonville may cut him next offseason.

  3. Tennessee Titans: Jalen Collins, CB, LSU
    Tennessee needs help all over their defense after its multiple disgraceful showings. Blidi Wreh-Wilson has been dreadful as a replacement for Alterraun Verner. The Titans could use multiple upgrades in the secondary.

  4. New York Jets: Josue Matias, G, Florida State
    The Jets have not gotten good play out of their guards this year. Willie Colon, who has disappointed, will be a free agent in March.

  5. Oakland Raiders: Cedric Ogbuhei, OT, Texas A&M
    Oakland acquired this pick from the Buccaneers in the first round for Marcus Mariota. Donald Penn is not a long-term option at left tackle, while neither Khalif Barnes nor Menelik Watson should not be starting going forward. Cedric Ogbuhei provides great value atop Round 2 after falling in the wake of his major struggles this season.

  6. New York Giants: Mike Davis, RB, South Carolina
    Rashad Jennings can’t be counted on to stay healthy, while Andre Williams has been a big disappointment thus far. The Giants could consider a running back early in the 2015 NFL Draft.

  7. Washington Redskins: Mario Edwards, DE/DT, Florida State
    The Redskins could look into adding to their defensive line. Jason Hatcher is just a short-term rental, while Jarvis Jenkins is set to hit free agency this March.

  8. Carolina Panthers: Cameron Erving, OT/C, Florida State
    Most people focus on Carolina’s receiving corps, but the team’s offensive line can’t block whatsoever for Cam Newton, who’s had no chance in recent games. He was sacked a whopping nine times against the Eagles! That absolutely must change for the Panthers to be a playoff contender again.

  9. New Orleans Saints: Kevin Johnson, CB, Wake Forest
    The Saints have had major defensive issues this season. Some of their players can’t tackle whatsoever. Meanwhile, the corners, particularly Patrick Robinson and Corey White, haven’t been able to cover anyone.

  10. Chicago Bears: Jaquiski Tartt, S, Samford
    Chicago’s issues at the safety position have been well-documented, so I doubt the front office would hesitate to draft a player at that position early on.

  11. St. Louis Rams: Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Oklahoma
    Brian Quick has emerged as a solid starting receiver – though he’s finished for the year – while Tavon Austin can be used on trick plays, but the Rams need to find another wideout to put into the lineup.

  12. Minnesota Vikings: Markus Golden, DE/OLB, Missouri
    I’d prefer to give the Vikings a guard or a linebacker under normal circumstances, but Markus Golden provides too much value here as a possible first-rounder. Besides, Brian Robison will turn 32 right after the 2015 NFL Draft, so a successor will be needed.

  13. Buffalo Bills: Brett Hundley, QB, UCLA
    The Bills can’t get a franchise quarterback in the first round, so perhaps they’ll obtain one here. They don’t really have any other choice. E.J. Manuel stinks, while Kyle Orton is obviously not the long-term answer.

  14. Houston Texans: Benardrick McKinney, LB, Mississippi State
    The Texans need some help in the middle of their defense, as the disappointing Brian Cushing won’t be around much longer.

  15. Baltimore Ravens: Nelson Agholor, WR, USC
    Steve Smith looked done last year, but he’s actually trying now, and it’s paying off for Baltimore. However, Steve Smith won’t last much longer, while Torrey Smith is an impending free agent, so the Ravens will have to find a new receiver.

  16. Miami Dolphins: Michael Bennett, DT, Ohio State
    Jared Odrick has played so well this year that he’ll command lots of money in free agency this upcoming spring. The Dolphins may have to find a new defensive tackle as a consequence.

  17. San Diego Chargers: Ty Montgomery, WR, Stanford
    Malcom Floyd will be a 34-year-old entering his contract season in 2015. The Chargers may want to find a long-term starter across from Keenan Allen.

  18. San Francisco 49ers: Arie Kouandjio, G, Alabama
    Alex Boone and the 49ers couldn’t agree on a contract prior to the season, so it’s possible that next year could be Boone’s last in San Francisco. If so, a replacement at guard will be needed.

  19. Seattle Seahawks: Christian Covington, DT, Rice
    Jordan Hill has not panned out thus far, so the Seahawks will need long-term help at defensive tackle once Kevin Williams retires.

  20. Cleveland Browns: Danny Shelton, NT, Washington
    Ahtyba Rubin is an impending free agent this March. Here’s a replacement if the Browns can’t retain him.



  21. Atlanta Falcons: T.J. Clemmings, OT, Pittsburgh
    The Jake Matthews pick looked like it was working out early before the A&M product got banged up. Regardless, the Falcons could stand to add another offensive tackle because Sam Baker (and everyone else) is always hurt.

  22. Indianapolis Colts: Ameer Abdullah, RB, Nebraska
    Ahmad Bradshaw has performed well this year, but the Colts can’t count on him to stay healthy. Trent Richardson, meanwhile, hasn’t come close to living up to expectations.

  23. Cincinnati Bengals: Hroniss Grasu, C, Oregon
    The Bengals don’t have very many needs, but they are especially weak at center, where rookie Russell Bodine has struggled for the most part thus far.

  24. Dallas Cowboys: Carl Davis, DT, Iowa
    Dallas’ defense has been much better than anyone anticipated, but there are still some weaknesses that need to be addressed – particularly in the interior of the defensive line, where Nick Hayden needs to be upgraded.

  25. Pittsburgh Steelers: Owamagbe Odighizuwa, DE/OLB, UCLA
    The Steelers hate drafting edge rushers early on because of scheme transition issues, but they really need to upgrade their pass rush. It’s been better lately, but Pittsburgh can’t count on James Harrison playing well forever.

  26. Detroit Lions: A.J. Cann, G, South Carolina
    The Lions have struggled to protect Matthew Stafford this season. Guard Rob Sims has become a liability, so the front office may attempt to replace him. He’ll be a free agent come March anyway.

  27. Philadelphia Eagles: Cody Prewitt, S, Ole Miss
    Nate Allen has been a huge liability, as he was responsible for Arizona’s game-winning touchdown. The Eagles are in desperate need of an upgrade at safety.

  28. Kansas City Chiefs: Sammie Coates, WR, Auburn
    The Chiefs need help at wideout. Dwayne Bowe is just a No. 2 receiver masquerading as a top target, while none of the other receivers are very skilled. The Chiefs might be regretting passing on Kelvin Benjamin.

  29. Denver Broncos: Gerrod Holliman, S, Louisville
    Rahim Moore is an impending free agent in March, so here’s a potential replacement for him.

  30. Arizona Cardinals: Marcus Peters, CB, Washington
    Marcus Peters was recently dismissed from the team. The Cardinals have taken chances on troubled players before, so perhaps they’d give Peters a shot. Peters, who has top-15 talent, could fill in for Antonio Cromartie if the stud corner isn’t re-signed.

  31. Green Bay Packers: Tevin Coleman, RB, Indiana
    The Packers envisioned utilizing a dual backfield when they drafted Eddie Lacy and Johnathan Franklin. The latter didn’t work out, so Green Bay could spend a day-two choice on another running back to complement Lacy.

  32. New England Patriots: Rashad Greene, WR, Florida State
    The Patriots have been unstoppable on offense lately, but they still need to find some help for Tom Brady in the receiving corps. Relying on the likes of Brandon LaFell doesn’t sound like a good proposition.
