Team needs and outstanding trades have been taken into account with this mock draft.

  1. Cleveland Cavaliers: Otto Porter, SF, Georgetown, 6-8, Soph.
I don't get the fascination with handing Nerlens Noel the No. 1 spot. Does Cleveland need another offensively challenged frontcourt player? No. The Cavaliers are lacking a true small forward and Otto Porter would be the perfect fit here. His all-around ability would be a terrific young piece to add to the talented young backcourt of Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters. The only scenario I could see Cleveland taking Noel is if the team is ready to trade Anderson Varejao - which is a possible scenario.

  2. Orlando Magic: Nerlens Noel, PF, Kentucky, 7-0, Fr.
The re-building Magic could use improved talent all across the board and adding an athletic shot blocker like Noel would be a nice piece to add alongside the promising Nikola Vucevic. If Noel does goes No. 1, look for Orlando to target Trey Burke, Ben McLemore, or Victor Oladipo.

  3. Washington Wizards: Anthony Bennett, PF, UNLV, 6-8, Fr.
With their backcourt of John Wall and Bradley Beal set for the foreseeable future, the Wizards pass on Burke and McLemore. Instead Washington turns its attention to Anthony Bennett, who would provide a needed spark at power forward. If Cleveland ends up picking Noel, Porter won't fall past this pick.

  4. Charlotte Hornets: Ben McLemore, SG, Kansas, 6-5, Fr.
Neither Ben Gordon nor Gerald Henderson appear to be the long-term answer at shooting guard for the Hornets. The selection of could Ben McLemore give Charlotte a needed scorer and shooter on the wing to go alongside Kemba Walker and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

  5. Phoenix Suns: Victor Oladipo, SG, Indiana, 6-4, Jr.
The Suns sorely need and upgrade of talent on the wing and should target someone like Ben McLemore or Victor Oladipo. With McLemore off the board at this point, Victor Oladipo is the selection.

  6. New Orleans Pelicans: Alex Len, C, Maryland, 7-1, Soph.
This pick will come to Len or Burke. Greivis Vasquez had a breakout season for the Pelican last year at the point so a point guard isn't necessary. Robin Lopez played well in the middle, but Len and Anthony Davis could be a frontcourt duo of the future too good to pass up.

  7. Sacramento Kings: Trey Burke, PG, Michigan, 6-1, Soph.
The Kings are in a "best available player" position and Burke is certainly that guy. Sacramento doesn't really have a point guard who make plays for his teammates. Burke can be that guy, and he should be a better long-term floor general than Isaiah Thomas.

  8. Detroit Pistons: C.J. McCollum, SG, Lehigh, 6-3, Sr.
With a young frontcourt of Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond intact, the Pistons should focus on improving their wing play. C.J. McCollum is a combo guard, which might be a turn-off for a Pistons team that already has Brandon Knight and Rodney Stuckey, but McCollum's ability to shoot the rock is sorely needed in Detroit.

  9. Minnesota T-Wolves: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, SG, Georgia, 6-5, Soph.
The Timberwolves have been searching for a true a shooting guard but could also use some depth at center since Nikola Pekovic is a restricted free agent. Caldwell-Pope has ideal size for the two guard spot and can stroke it from the outside.

  10. Portland Trail Blazers: Shabazz Muhammad, G/F, UCLA, 6-6, Fr.
The Trail Blazers' bench was AWFUL last year, so the team needs depth all across the board and likely takes the best non-point guard available. Shabazz Muhammad was once considered a top prospect in the the 2013 NBA Draft, but a lot of question marks have risen lately. Still, he is a solid value at this point and, at the least, could bring some offensive punch off Portland's bench.

  11. Philadelphia 76ers: Cody Zeller, C, Indiana, 7-0, Soph.
Though I think Zeller is a massively overrated NBA prospect due to a lack of physicality, the 76ers could use some size inside. Another option for Philadelphia would be adding depth on the wing.

  12. Oklahoma City Thunder: Rudy Gobert, C, France, 7-2, 1992
This is a luxury pick for the Thunder, so the team can take a chance on an athletic big with a huge wingspan (7-9) and allow him time to develop.

Oklahoma City owns the Raptors' pick (via the Houston/Kyle Lowry) from the James Harden trade. Go here to see all of the outstanding 2013 NBA Draft Trades.

  13. Dallas Mavericks: Michael Carter-Williams, PG, Syracuse, 6-6, Soph.
Rumors are swirling that the Mavericks want to deal this pick to save cap space for a potential run at Dwight Howard or Chris Paul. If Dallas hangs onto it, a guard will be targeted since O.J. Mayo has already said he will opt out of his contract and Darren Collison is a restricted free agent.

  14. Utah Jazz: Dennis Schroeder, PG, Germany, 6-2, 1993
With no point guard under contract for next season, the Jazz will likely use one of their first-round picks on a floor general. Dennis Schroeder really turned heads at the Nike Hoops Summit and has drawn some comparisons to Rajon Rondo.

  15. Milwaukee Bucks: Shane Larkin, PG, Miami, 5-11, Soph.
With Brandon Jennings a restricted free agent, Monta Ellis holding a player option on the final year of his contract, and J.J. Redick an unrestricted free agent; the Bucks will be looking for backcourt depth. Though undersized, Shane Larkin really helped himself with terrific testing results at the NBA Draft Combine.

The Bullets are taking Kidd-Gilchrist?! I don't think so. The Bullets haven't been in the NBA for years...

You guys with the one million trade up and downs: It takes two teams to trade and you don't know who will be available if you can somehow work out a trade. I read trade 4 & 24 for 6 & 11 and laugh. It isn't as easy as that

How is Andrew Nicholson (22nd to the Celtics) which you list at 6-9.

"One of the few true seven-footers"???

cavs should do this trade down with 4 & 24 for 6 &11 which is portland then get barnes then use varajeo and a second rounder for either 7 golden state or Hustons 14 & 16 so that gives them if they take hustons deal then they get 6 11 14 & 16 then use 14 and 11 to move up to sacramento and take lamb & barnes then with 16 take sully or lenard or pj11 or anyone that they wanted really then they get 3 players with possible lotto potential and still have a early second rounder to take the other lamb if possible then u have 2 sg of the future then 2 sf or the future with gee and barnes then a big man as needed.... that is possible championship caliber team if the picks turn out....

I don't see Washington taking Kidd-Gilchrist because they traded for Trevor Ariza and they have Singleton on their roster, so their set at SF. I think they'll take Beal to be a running mate with John Wall and the Cavs take Gilchrist with the next pick.

i dont see Philly drafting Sullinger simply because while i agree they need a big man.. how is Sullinger that guy? he's 6'9. is he going to back up brand? they need someone taller with more ability to score.

I expect you will hear noises about the Cavs involved in multiple trades. (1) I expect they will trade out of 4 if Beal is gone. (2) Look for a Varejao (and their 2nd rounder) trade for a pick and Top 10 is a possibility. (3) their 24th and a 2nd rounder to possibly move up in the top 20.

I think they'll draft SG, SF and C with their picks (Lamb, Jones III and Leonard) in the top 18 after trades. Either the Varejao + 2nd rounder or the 24th + 2nd rounder will have appeal.

Walt- you need to name the team with the 3rd pick "Les Boulets"...that's French for "The Bullets"!

I'm assuming you haven't updated the second round, as you have the Cavs taking both Fab Melo and Festus Ezeli. The Cavs don't even need one offensively-challenged, raw center, let alone 2.
